For a high sec war situation, what ship would you use to solo kill a battleship running level 4 missions? Most of my time is in a frigate while I hunt for these folks, but will need to reship once I find one.

Curse

Was originally planning on using my Curse as I love the neuting power of it, but am concerned about 1) the damage output being enough for a battleship, and 2) how drone on drone combat works. He sends his drones at me, I sic my drones on his drones, will that be effective? Would I be able to tank him and the rats? Would my drones survive his drones and the rats?

My skills:
Recon V
Combat Drone Operation V soonish
Drone Duability III
Drone Interfacing IV
Minmatar Drone Specialization III (Use T2 small and medium Minmatar drones)

Cynabal

Though I've never flown one, I like the idea of the Cynabal, except that I'm about 30 days from an armor Command Ship, meaning I'm likely about 65 or so from a shield Command Ship. Sure, I can throw shield links on the armor bonused command ship, but it'd be more ideal to fit things for full benefit.

My skills:
Minmatar Cruiser V
Gallente Cruiser V
Medium Autocannon Specialization I (would need to train up, I know)

Something else

Harbinger maybe? Prophecy? Hurricane? Hell - T3 BC's? I fear T3 BC's may be a tad too squishy though, plus I don't have any T2 large weapon systems. I have the impression that T3 cruisers can get rather pricy, though I've always been curious about the Legion. I'd PREFER to stay armor due to that's the command ship I've been skilling towards, though shield isn't a deal breaker. These are PvE folks I'm hunting after all.

My missile skills are nothing to write home about, and most of my time has been spent in frigates. I have excellent capacitor skills as I like lasers, and have trained T2 medium lasers and projectiles, though lasers more so. Medium hybrids are only level III, but this can obviously be changed as well. Whatever boat I choose will dictate the immediate future of my skill queue anyhow.

When I have friends helping me attack the mission runner, I plan to be in my Curse; but what about when I find one and have no friends? What would you recommend? It also needs to be fast enough to hopefully make it to the target before he warps out. Multiple gates will be my downfall I think...

A geddon seems to do a pretty good job: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15v196_5fn4

you don't have to worry about your dps output simply because mission runners need they-re active reps and active tank , once he is neuted out its just a matter of chiping away its hp which eventually will go down one way or another .

You need to have some local tank aswell or a neutral logi , if you go up againts BS's that use lazors or hybrid turrets once they are capped they can't shoot back but vs missles/projectiles ur gonna need some tank .

Normaly you can do this with an assault frig , takes abit longer but since the small sig your virtually imposible to kill , and due to having small guns you can kill his drones easier aswell .

Just about any ship could work , provide you get with the right fit .

As for drone on drone , warriors will do good vs any other drones .

I could recomend a neuting vexor , ishkur , the curse will work great .. arbitrator vs gun boats , thorax , moa ? plenty of options

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

I'd keep it cheap. Prolly use an Armor tanked neuting Vexor. Your average mission runner is going to active tank, take out their tank and they will most likely die quickly. High resists, good buffer, and low sig will be your allies. Of course, you will have to get the mission runner to engage you and also have to worry about the rats, as they will change aggro.

you don't need a geddon or a bhaalgorn to break an active tank on a single subcap, even a curse is a bit overkill.

if you can get on a Vagabond you'll do great, with extreme speed and agility plus shield boost bonus, you can tank any battleship, while neuting and clearing drones with ease. the 400ish dps you can output with it will be more than enough.

not to mention that a battleship on a multi room mission will take forever to get to the target, a Vaga can get there as fast as a frigate with timed overloads.

A battleship was never an option for me. Far too slow, and far too easy to get caught by other targets. I'll have to look at the Vega - I like the idea of speed. Get through the gates quicker too...

Overtanked maller with neuts? Don't know, killing mission runners isn't exactly challenging.

(Dual-)Nanocurse .... mine is still in duty for several years and is also working great for solo, shieldfleets, roams, ....

1 Nos 2 neuts and you'll have some fun with missionrunners ;)

I've run many lvl4's in a Vexor Navy Issue 130mil ISK to fit and fly.

Carry light and medium combat tech 2 drones as well as sentries and deploy as needed.

Makes me a bit crazy always buying ammo, so I like the drones.

There are so many options...
As for the weapon system, being able to change damage type is a big boon, to be able to shoot in the missioners resist hole. Being able to neut is probably the best ability unless you're bringing enough dps to overwhelm the his/hers tank. A scrambler is imo mandatory against BSes because of MJDs these days.
I don't know how much attention the farmers are using at local, but as a war target, wouldn't you be VERY visible?
Unless you having a second ship to tackle for you, I'd use a fairly agile ship, so you don't find yourself alone at the warpin point with your target already in warp. But if that wasn't a worry, some good alternatives would be:
- Tempest with Autocannons, neuts, cap booster and X-Large Anc SB (good all around, as long as you have charges)
- Tempest with Autocannons, NOSes and X-Large SB (makes you able to fight a war of attrition against your target)
- Mael with Autocannons and X-Large Anc SB (big tank)
- Domi with 6 NOSes, X-Large SB and heavy drones (pure evil)
- Navy Domi with 6 Blasters, X-Large Anc SB and heavy drones (Kin/Ther might be what he/she is tanking, but the drones can be berserkers, and 1500DPS will probably do the job anyway...)
- Raven with Torps and a neut, X-Large Anc SB, target painter and a cap booster (good all around, as long as you have charges)

And these are just the BS alternatives...it all comes down to the target you're facing. BSes are best against BSes. An alternative would be Command Ships, a Sleipnir or a an Astarte would smash anything but a Marauder if they could get on top. For something smaller, I'd probably use a HAC like the HAM Sacrilege or a T3.
