Goons as they are, are an abomination and must be nerfed.

Picture a rosebush, this represents the game. Sometimes it gets too unwieldy and needs to be pruned and after pruning it grows back stronger than before.

Goons have grown unwieldy, the safety has been continually increasing much like an unwieldy rose bush is continually growing in every which way except the way you want it to.

How have goons done this?

Blue sec wraps players in bubble wrap and allows them to fall when it will most hurt them. For example a player that never leaves blue sec or participates in any non-blob or PVP can be ganked in a paper thin industrial which is suicide ganked. Had Goons not coddled them they would have died in much cheaper easier to replace things and learned how to manipulate risk : reward to their own advantage.

Goons allow blight to spread by protecting veteran players from consequences brought about by their own actions. For example the 5 year veteran CFC member who hauls billions around blue sec completely risk and effort free thanks to blue doughnut immunity.

Finally and most insidiously it promotes a toxic ideology of smugness and aversion to small gang or solo combat. Which is a threat to the economy and game as we know it.

Nerfing Goons by removing the blue doughnut, and by actually limiting its resources would allow EVE to expand to new horizons. It would take niches currently filled by subservient drones and allow free minded players to fill them creating lots of new emergent game play.

One final truth, the Goons neckbeard rapture is a lie, thousands of players will not be sucked up gigantic tubes of glowing light to new PVP spaceship or tank MMOs if goons are nerfed. The subscriber base will instead experience unprecedented growth.

too obvious 3/10 for effort though.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

You won GD, ignore the haters, screeches of outrage are the way forward.

don't be so intolerant! studies have found that after a shower, a shave and their eyes have adjusted to sunlight, some goons can be integrated into normal functioning society

I'm troubled by how beta and sycophantic some players can be in this game, mainly goons.

I couldn't log into a game or jabber everyday to worship Mittani or James 316 but goons do , seems kind of sad.

That's the only way they as a group impact me, just making me feel slightly bad for others.

I do. Just like companies or entities are disbanded or reorganized when they become too large and monopolistic to the extent that they no longer benefit society by preventing fair competition .

This is something I put together for situations like this:

That has little to do with the profession of the pilot and more to do with the attitude. If you complain and ask for someone else to take responsibility to fix what you perceive as a problem, you deserve to be called a carebear.

If you have a problem, work out how to solve it yourself and then solve it. Take responsibility for it rather than asking CCP to permit your play by stopping someone else's. You have all the tools necessary yourself to disrupt the play you don't agree with.

This, unlike the other idea in the last thread, is a bit closer to the truth. The fact of the matter is that there is no reason to go to null sec any more. There's nothing fun or interesting to do there, as it is all locked behind the horrible game mechanics currently governing corporations, alliances and sovereignty.

The simple fact is that corporations are just rebranded guilds, with no justification for calling them corporations. Alliances are just really big corporations. And sovereignty has less to do with sovereignty and more to do with magic alerts and invulnerability timers.

As things stand, people can have more fun in high sec simply because by playing there they do not have to abide by the rules of someone, or a group of someones, that barely, if ever, play the game any more. If, and when, the mechanics behind corporation management, alliances and most importantly sovereignty are redesigned, we'll see a resurgence in interest regarding null sec. Until then, null sec is only fun if you like playing by someone else's rules.
