Not religion per se, when it comes to religion I must say it's more like despise than hate.

No, I hate people that pray.

Why you ask? Well the answer is pretty simple.

People that pray know that something needs to be done, but instead of even trying to do it themselves they kneel and beg for someone else (mostly invisible and non-existant) to do it and they even feel mighty righteous about it...

On religion per se... Well, I despise religion. It's a mind poison, it enacts thought barriers and discourages the asking of questions and in some cases enforces the (severe) punishment of people that ask to many or the wrong kind of questions or, while I'm at it, eat the wrong kind of food at the wrong day.

I honestly pitty people that fell for that trap.

That's what i just realized about myself.

And just to make this post not a rant, what do you hate/despise and why?

EDIT: Just to clarify, maybe I should have said "people that JUST pray" You know, the kind of people that sit on their arses and do nothing but pray when they could actually do something to change things for the better.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Wouldn't go as far as hating (as hate is too powerful) but I regard pseudoscience, homeopathy, anti-vaccine nonsense and quackery with contempt.

Wow, I could give a list. I'll start with my biggest ones.

Left lane A**hole drivers. The flow of traffic would be so much nicer if people who drive in the left lane and "sit there" were simply removed from the gene pool. It takes very little effort on your part to move back into the right lane but yet you find it your civic responsibility to meter traffic. Jerks...

Bureaucracy. (particularly when it comes to insurance companies and banks) Want a Loan? Fill out this stack of paperwork that gives us permission to say "no". "No sir, that last payment you made went to cover a missing payment from 1972." Two of the great evils of the world...banks and insurance companies.

This one may seem a little obscure, but it drives me insane. People who have no practical knowledge of their field. Dealing with architects/engineers who work in theories, but have no idea how it works in real life. Something as simple as designing a lighting system that is 15' high....in a stairwell. I think that architects and engineers should spend mandatory time "in the field" to get an idea of what their bone headed designs do to people that have to maintain them.

Thats my very very short list.

Pointless authority (I am Australian, so hating authority is a thing).

Not authority that has meaning and reason, but particularly in government it seems everyone wants to feel important at the expense of the average member of the community.

Most of it is pointless, like the moves in Australia towards a nanny society where people are stopped from doing something because they might hurt themselves, or businesses and councils are afraid to offer certain services to the community because they might be liable if someone falls over.

There are many other examples and it really ticks me off. I'm responsible enough to decide for myself what risks I want to expose myself to or if there is something to be done, I don't need a set of rules to tell me how to do it. Just let me get on and get it done.

Sometimes you can do nothing, like when doctors tell you that every therapy they tried has failed and you can expect death. You will pray then, if you are religious person. Or when some kidnapper is holding a gun near your daughters head, or yours in a bank robbery. You will probably pray even when you are not religious person.

From my personal experience, people often pray when they are hurt, and don't know how to handle dificult emotional situations, like death of a wife or husband, or a children. Lets say its more like a talk with a personal shrink, you can tell him anything. Maybe its like defending yourself from nihilism, like empowering "God is on our side" and then everything is possible even when its not.

No.

Praying is a useless waste of time. If anyithing it'll make it worse because instead of even trying to do something You do nothing and waste time and energy on that useless nothing.

Then I would ask: what about Zen-philosophy? Does not every cell in our body in some way let us sense that there is far more than just intelligence ---> science----> robotics/computers ... in the end all leading to the total absence of the greater good, called wisdom?

For example: if it would be up to science & scientists alone, than the ultimate strife should be replacing all human bodyparts (limbs/organs/brains) by some artificial equivalents (???)...and next stage 'storing humans memories" in some databases...in that way becoming immortals...

Just read the relevant articles about it on the internet: the above is already set in progress for years now. Though, such persons (or more accurate I should refer to them as ' dark entities') striving for such scientific implementations maybe highly intelligent...they show a total absense of wisdom & they choose to declare war on yet beautiful & immense vastly interconnected ecological 'living' systems..of which Planet Eart is just a part.

As a little example this scene of the many awards winning "Dances with wolves" ....the lieutenant goes dancing around the fire....but what does this tell you? What has realy happened to him: evolution or de-evolution? Great movie with some deep idea's in it.

"Dances With Wolves Fire Dance"

So, I guess it just comes to this: what does your senses (feelings) tell you about this all?Roll

I would say it is not a waste of time, you are mistaken, people can be manipulated to do the "right stuff" using a "superpower" even when you can't touch it. It is all a matter of leading and respect. Authority, like Putin or Obama can tell you it is like that and you will believe it. Even when you are wrong. But you can do crazy stuff then. Everyone lives in some sort of bubble of his own beliefs.

All what I got from a life is a paradox of my own though, that is my statement. I did not found a God. You can have other experiences and say you have found some true meaning of life, or that prayer suck, but I can't say that. It is more complicated.

Not with prayer.

You can manipulate them by appealing to their patriootism or by straight out lying to them (like reliugion does) but not by praying. There is no possible way you can justify a prayer as something useful, it simply is not possible.

I got a tip, how about grab a girl/guy, get yourself a little some some, smoke a bowl and chill the F*** out.

There's no reason to harbor so much hate and judgment for you fellow human being. You do you and let others do themselves.

Edit: i don't hate anybody. Hate takes too much effort.

I pray you learn to let go of your hate and anger towards others and learn to love and understand them instead.

You know what I hate? People who go online and tell me what they hate. Like I give a rat's buttocks.

You're right - stupidity should be a bannable offense - you wouldn't have been here to post in the first place.

In the meantime, I'll pray for your enlightenment (or at least banishment).

Oh yes, also the "packign stuff away *neatly* caus theye hardly ever break" mentality is a great one among designers. Results in, for example, a car where you have to take out the entire engine to replace a broken temprature sensor. Cost of the sensor, 25 euro, labour cost, 1200 euro(for a car that I bought for 800)

Anyway, back on track, I dont mind religion or people that prey(not a typo) as long as theye dont bother other people with it. One of the things I do despice are the types that drive to the hospital in a car(that god didn't create) wearing clothes(that god didnt create) to deny their kids life-saving medicine cause god didnt create the medicine.

and that has nothing to do with religion, plenty of people who aren't religious and dont prey still sit on their backsides doing nothing edit: Actually,, in this case the people that pray are doing more then those who dont pray, even if the end result is the same
