200 Billion (with a B) Star Systems?

How come EvE can't have 200 BILLION Shocked Complete star systems to explore like this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/WebGames/comments/20xarh/ascent_the_space_game_a_browser_based_space/

I know comparing this game to EvE is like comparing a stick figure to the Mona Lisa, but jeez if they can do it why cant WE?

Oh yes, we really need 199.99999 billion empty systems in this universe.

Eve exists as a tiny star cluster attached to a larger galaxy in an unknown location of a possibly unknown universe. Human colonisation is slow as it requires jump gates to be physically transported and built in connecting pairs across light years of space. Cyno's and wormholes aside. How long would it take for humanity to explore, colonise and inhabit 200 billion star systems.

Probably more than the age of the present universe.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

Thank you for properly calling them "star systems" and not "solar systems",
like even CCP is doing wrongly.

200 Billion systems = Imperial **** ton of renters.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I think it would be awesome to spend days and days if not weeks and weeks if not months without seeing anyone.

500k players you say? Divide that by 200 billion, then count how many jumps would we be apart from each other if every single one of us was alone in 1 system.

Sir and or Madam, I am the product of an American public school. Would you kindly refrain from asking me to do math? Thank you.

I don't think there'd be an even distribution of players. There would inevitably be exploratory inroads made by EvE's most intrepid explorers and populated, and in between would be unexplored systems nobody has been to yet. Also, certain individual systems would no doubt be more attractive ( ie profitable) than others.

Just brought it up because it's mind boggling that a game could have that much to explore in it.

Just stop posting. Clearly it'd open up possibilities for massive bot-farms and the likes.

If you think EVE is boring as it is, just quit.

To do that they'd need a lot better server (they would need to render every system) and decrease the range between each system and/or increase jump range (11ly is like 10 systems)

You don't understand much about how things work hu?

The server renders nothing, except portraits.

The amount of system indicates they are generated on the fly,
so the amount of data to be saved is ridiculously low.

All graphics are done on the client
and all the data necessary to simulate a system likewise.

Jump ranges do not have any influence on server performance.

Please explain wtf you are talking about...

You are so far off the mark, that I'm not sure how is it possible for you to use a computer.

The internet must be like magic to you.

People are already complaining about the massive amount of empty 0.0 systems, and travel times, manually going through stargates, without using autopilot, already takes a looong time, depending on ship of course.

200 billion star systems?
Not only would 99% of them always be empty, completely waste of space, they could also possibly make travel times far greater, unless theres "super highway stargates" connectiong a crapton of systems, and if that was gonna happen, we'd have systems with a stupidly high amount of stargates. Otherwise, youl have weeks worth of travel time to go from one end of the game universe to the other.

This might all sound exciting and "super cool" in your head, but in reality it would make EVE incredibly boring, unless all of those systems were to be added in a massive "ring" around our current universe, then it would just be a massive unused cluster of stars.

EvE, boring? No way. I have more to do in a EvE session than I could possibly accomplish in the time I have! It sucks that I have to waste my time by going to work every day ! LOL

We really need an international standard oh what that means, from the UK I now picture you wearing robes looking like something from harry potter and being instructed by your masters on how to shoot pheasants or row or something.

This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main.
