I came home from work, the update had failed so I followed it's suggestion of running the repair executable.

2 hours later, the repair service failed too... with a permission denied while trying to modify bin/EveFile.exe.

Windows 7 won't allow a file to be modified if it's currently opened or used by another program, since EveFile.exe
seems to be launched from the repair service, it bombs immediately.... I'm not sure of a way around this, Eve is
the prime reason I have Windows installed at home.

One thing that is really frustrating, is the update utility already downloaded the patch (which it failed) and the repair
utility also, downloaded the patch again... why does the repair utility always download the patch every time? If it was
a problem on my end, I fix it and have to sit there again downloading a gigabyte off the internet? Really?

Anyways, I'm trying to download the full client install now. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Same problem with windows vista. Patch failed on install, after a 2 hour download. The repair option never kicked in when I selected it...nothing happened.

Wound up downloading the entire client again, only to have it fail on install due to "unable to resolve URL, check your connection." At which point the installer freezes up.

Blegh.

I had that too, win7 also. What you do is this

1. launch repair.exe and let it fondle with your system 20-30 seconds.
2. open task manager
3. kill exeFile.exe process
4. check from time to time and look for exeFile.exe, if it's still up, kill it asap. I only had to kill it once, your results may vary

I did that and got the repair to work properly.

I'll give this a shot. I'll let it run over night tonight, give an update in the morning.
