Waiting for the cartel propagandists to state "no loss, just some scrub".
Let's see how that works out in Oct/Nov/Dec when the 6 month subs start running out.

One blogger, no matter how high profile, does not represent the player base. This is one of the many many reasons no-one takes you seriously Dinsdale.

Highsec players have had it easy for over a decade. When industry is made less profitable their response is to cry & quit the game.

Has anyone informed Inspector Teg yet?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

also, i wonder.... if bloggers spent more time playing eve, and less time whining about it on their blogs would things be different?

I'm sorry Ben, but this time you are wrong. Dinny didn't do it. THE BLOGGER himself did it:

Quote:
I have no illusions that my departure will change minds or alter the present course of the game. Mine is, after all, a little blog; a tiny niche within the niche game that is EVE Online, with admittedly little resonance within the larger EVE community.

And when High Sec doesn't just fold up and die, he'll be back, not admitting that he was wrong of course (they never do).

As i read that blog, I'm reminded how much some people bring their out of game political beliefs into the game. The blogger goes on and on and the injustice of it all, of CCP favoring the fewer over the many (as if this blogger, or Dinsdale for that matter, represents anything more his own individual self) and then rants about how 'the few' will be able to use their supercapital might to smite down everyone else.

It's all a bunch of nonsense though. CCP is changing industry to make riskier space better for industry and make the game more player driven, and these high sec leeches who have hidden from the influence of other players behind the skirts of NPC mechanics are panicking.

Panicking because 'OMG, now I have to play smarter, i might even *GASP* have to talk to other people and organize like minded folk in high sec to do the same so the evil cartels don't roll us'.

It says much about these people's social skills that they (like this blogger) would rather quit than group up and fight back (in game, and via voting for the CSM and such).

People, get over it.

That's why I always counsel CCP (CCP calls me at night and asked me for advice btw) to be careful what they give people via the game, because as SOON as you give the average gamer any kind of advantage, he latches on to it as if it has always existed and they have always been entitled to it. When you take it away, they get mad.

A good example was the High Sec lvl 5 mission bug. EVERYONE knew it was a bug, CCP just took a long long time to fix it. End result, high sec people feel entitled to low sec content. It's still happening with the 'bring lvl 5s back to high sec' threads.

CCP is giving players more control of EVE. The problem is that now there is an entire sub-culture of EVE that has grown used to being able to high from most unwanted player v player interactions by using NPC resources (High sec, NPC corps, crimewatch ect ect). CCP is rightfully yanking away this adult security blanket and this adult children are screaming bloody murder.
