Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, i couldn't post it in the others probably due to my trial status.

When i log on, i can play/trade/mine whatever for roughly 5 minutes sometimes less, then it just stops menus does not load, i cant dock places or move my ship and then about a minute after that my game closes, i go straight to desktop and it restarts shortly after and brings me to the log in screen.

Is this a known issue? my internet is clearly fine but could it be a network issue? (i did play eve uninterrupted and had a great time for 6 months last year, and im on the same pc and same ISP/router as before so no changes there, also same pc, drivers fully updated, and running a Win7 64 bit machine. if you need any more info just shout. thanks.)

I would appreciate the help, my interest in the game has perked once again, wiped out my old posters from EON's , would be a shame not to start playing again because of a technical difficulty Sad

This sounds indeed like connectivity issues and the client losing connection for some reason. Seeing that you seem to have had EVE installed earlier (if I read you correctly), it might be worth checking your firewall and router if they still have any rules set (the program has changed a lot since, and some firewalls just don't quite like that).

Other than that, you will find some basic network diagnostic tools and steps on our EVElopedia:
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Network_Guide

Those may or may not point out potential points of problems, so it might also be worth checking with your ISP if the route from their network to our servers (not necessarily the one between them and your home) eventually shows any problems that could be responsible for the shaky connection.

And last but not least: if you are on a trial account, then yes, this here would indeed be the only forum you will be able to post in :)

I did have eve installed earlier but that was January time. I have just installed ping plotter and followed the instructions and it says my average pin is 21ms which does not sound too shabby.

I have added the ports to my router, repaired the client (once i did this it asked me to install update #3 again) and yet it still kicks me off about 5 minutes in.

my ISP is UK virgin media, i have the same package as a few friends who play the game, and they have encountered no problems, its frustrating me lol >.<

Any other suggestions? (im going to restart my router now and see if that will help)

You are using a wired connection right?

I know when i started playing i had the exact same problem, ran ping plotter ect and sent the results to CCP and it showed me losing packets every 5-10mins regardless of what i was doing at the time.

At the time i was using a wireless connection, switched it to wired and not had a disconnect in over 4 months now.

If you are already using a wired connection, i have nothing more of use to add lol

Socket loss sounds like youu may have a spoty conection. It may still be fast and load webpages and download fast but ifthe signal is constnaly droping if even for only a few seconds at a time it can result in the server timing out your clients connection.

This kind of problem has been the bane of my online existance for years. some causess can be a crapy internet provider, outdated or incompatible modem/ router, or having low signal stregth due to having too much cpper between you and the routing station (in wich case having your isp turn up your line voltage can help).

Also may want to check if the guy nextdoor is using your wireless for his netflix.

Or do what I've done so many time in the past ans say screw it an teatheer off a cellphone, you will be surprised at how well you can multiclient eve off a stable lowbandwith conection

I have the same problem, pocket loss at 80.91.245.29, 80.91.247.168 (link.telia.net)
I contacted local provider (UPC) but have not received any response yet and frankly do not expect much from it.
I had the very same problem 4 years ago, in November 2007 – I cancelled my account after one month waiting, writing the petitions etc.
