A few questions about eve

1.What is the main difference between turrets, I mean what is the difference between the variations of small projectile turrets and medium proj turrets

2. I see people doing 600 damage per shot. I consider myself lucky If I get 60 damage per shot. How are they getting this much damage?

3.Also I run a corp which may be a mistake considering how new I am but I will continue through with it. Any advice?

As you know, EVE is deep, and so the full indepth answers to your questions cannot be accomplished with just the following... there are troves of texts and guides all over the itnernet that attempt to explain all concepts of EVE. I will try to answer them with simple concepts, though details are largely missing. So here goes:

1. Frigates and destroyers = Small sized guns. Cruisers and Battlecruisers = Medium sized guns and below. Battleships = Large guns. Dreadnaughts = XL guns. The larger the gun the slower the tracking ability and lower the tracking values, which means large guns have a tough time hitting things smaller, but inversely a small gun would track and hit well a larger ship. For more detail, theres a turret guide out there im too lazy to reference.

2. Dmg value is determined by: Size of gun, ammo used, tracking, ship traits, and your skills. TechII or Faction ammo ( i.e. Hail/ Barrage, or Republic EMP ammo) will do more damage than regular variant of its type. As a newer player you probably don't have the perfected skills (located in Gunnery) to increase the damage by a % and tracking ability in order to apply the damage to a high dps considered for your ship loadout. You also probably dont have the fitting skills needed (Engineering) to place Tech II mods that give a multiplier dmg or rate of fire dmg for your guns. Last but not least, your ship just plain may not be designed to do that said damage. Look at ship traits on ships that you can fly that increases gun damage as you level them (i.e. Minmatar Frigate V a slasher will have more dps than at Minmatar Frigate IV).

3. Depends highly on what you wish to accomplish. Hardest part is member retention. 2nd hardest part is having everyone understand and desire the same vision as you. 3rd hardest is actually getting said members off their butts to do something to further that goal.

You're still a little vague so I'll try to cover most of the bases.

Between true class sizes (small versus medium versus large)...
- smaller turrets require less ship resources (CPU and Powergrid) to fit, track faster, and have a smaller sensor resolution (the latter two meaning that they can hit smaller targets better)
- larger turrets have longer ranges, deal more damage per shot, and can pump out more damage per second overall.

Between in-class size (150mm versus 200mm OR 220mm versus 425mm)...
- smaller "bore" sizes track faster, have a higher rates of fire, and require less fitting resources (CPU and Powergrid).
- larger "bore" sizes have longer ranges and hit harder per shot.

It largely comes down to 5 things:

- The type of turret you are using (some deal less damage per second in exchange for higher per shot damage).
- Ammo choice can play a factor in how much damage a ship can do (short range ammo tends to deal more damage than long range).
- Skills can add up damage when they are high enough. It's just a matter of getting enough of them to a decent level (see: around level 4).
- Somewhat related to the last point... ship bonuses can increase the amount of damage you deal with a particular weapon system... either in terms of damage per shot or overall damage per second.

How to become a warlord in EVE

For everyone else though...
- Be fearless. Don't let people push you around. Shoot people if you have to.
- Don't be above cutting deals. And I'm not talking about paying ransoms. Be creative. Sing a song on audio chat or give your opponents the one fight they crave!
- Don't try to stay on everyone's good side. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and/or kick them in the face (in-game of course).
- Do not say you know everything. You don't. Even the most bitter or bittervets doesn't. Instead, ask if you don't know (even ask your enemies... you're all playing for fun right?).
- Keep things fresh. Every once in awhile bring in a newbie for everyone to train and/or get everyone back in touch with their "roots" by doing something wacky and dumb (Rookie ship fleets are a go!!).

0. Consider asking an moderator to move this post to the New Citizen forum, as you're likely to get better replies there.

1. Not sure what you mean by "variations". Do you mean between lasers, hybrids and projectile? Or between basters and rails? Or between neutron blasers and ion blasters? Or between a "Limited Light Ion Blaster" and a "Modal Light Ion Particle Accelerator"?

For the first & second question, look here: http://www.evealtruist.com/2012/07/weapon-systems-in-pvp.html
For the others, look here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3183362#post3183362

2. Guns with a slower rate of fire will have more damage per shot. People usually also count the total damage of all their guns. And bigger guns hit harder. Using eight 1400mm Artillery cannons, a Tornado can get well over 10k damage per shot. (But with ~16 seconds between each of those shots.)

But in most situations dps (damage per second) is more important than alpha (damage per shot ).
