"For the wishes of one's old life wither and shrivel like old leaves if they are not replaced with new wishes when the world changes.
And the world always changes. Wishes get slimy, and their colors fade, and soon they are just mud, like all the rest of the mud, and not wishes at all, but regrets."

Jesus is like Frank Zappa: a talented, forward thinking guy with insufferable fans.

After my father (a WWII vet) slugged a cop into the street he looked at him and said "I believe you left your oath in the trunk with your balls, would you like me to get them for you? "

Too many people these days ride on the shoulders of classics when writing what they call science fiction. They tell stories in which they have created nothing new, imagined no new possibilities; this is not science fiction, it is fantasy.

The Platinum Rule: Do unto others as they would have you do unto them.

Both are my original quotes.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

Especially those writing TV and film productions have no clue at all:

"In Hollywood, the phrase "science fiction film" doesn't usually mean what it should. Most films sold with that designation aren't true science fiction, because they don't deal in ideas in a sustained, conscientious way; they don't extrapolate where we are and where we might be headed, and what it might mean for the human race intellectually, physically and emotionally.

"More often what you get are action or horror or superhero movies with a faint science fiction flavor—films that occasionally remind themselves to genuflect toward big themes when they aren't just having the characters run and jump and dodge explosions or be surprised by a monster lunging at them from the dark."

I read "No Exit" for a class and fell in love with it. Sartre has many good quotes..

"Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.”
“Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance.”
“I hate victims who respect their executioners.” <-- relevant to EVE?
"Only the guy who isn't rowing has time to rock the boat."

My favorite:
"We do not judge the people we love."

The odds of Jesus coming a second time are about the same as those of ANY man coming a second time.

"I learned that things are different now. Would Richard Pryor be able to survive now? Would George Carlin be able to survive now? Would Sam Kinison be able to survive now? Would Lenny Bruce be able to survive now?

Might be. But still, it's a little bit different.
