Cargo Hold Size: Why?

This is just a little thing I am intrigued about, as it seems, to me, like it's reverse form what it should be.

Cargo hold of ships - I have noticed that Minmatar and Gallente have smaller cargo holds than Caldari and Amarr.

Why this seems weird to me is because Minmatar and Gallente have a selection of ships that rely on active tanking, which requires a load of capacitor booster charges stored in the cargo hold.

However, I've noticed that Minmatar and Gallente have cargo holds that are smaller. for example, let's look at some HACs, the Vagabond and Cerberus:

The Vagabond, being a ship with a bonus to active shield tanking, should have a cargo hold that can store enough capacitor charger to let it last for as long as possible, right? but its cargo hold is 360 cubic meters. you can't store a lot of capacitor charges in this cargo hold. let's assume that the vagabond is fitted with an Ancillary Capacitor Booster which stores 9 Navy Capacitor Booster Charge 400s. The cargo hold of the Vagabond can store exactly 30 of those, leaving no room for ammo. If you take 3 of them out you have a bit of room for ammo, but you still have just 3 reloads.

Now I'm not experienced with PVP with Vagabonds so I'm not gonna make false assumptions and say things that are not based on what is actually right. But I do know that 3 reloads for the shield booster(just one, BTW) only last for a short time, and after that you have to go and refill assuming you survive a conflict that consumes these charges.

Now the Cerberus for comparison: 650 cubic meters. not a small cargo hold, considering it doesn't have a bonus to either shield boost or shield resistances. so why does it need such a big cargo hold? mission grinding? I doubt it.

So now if you've read that, I'm gonna get to the bottom line: Why are the cargo hold sizes of these ships seem to be reversed? is there a reason why Minmatar ships have smaller cargo holds, inspite the fact they need a bigger cargo hold?

end of noob rant.

You might get a visit from the Doc...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Fuelled reps are a new thing. Besides, if anyone should get get extra room for cap charges, it's Amarr.

those also have bigger cargo holds from what I've seen, so I say, nope.jpg

I guess that's connected to speed and agility.
Overdrive injectors bring speed, but reduce the size of the cargo.

why are you surprised?

I guess you haven't discovered that GD gives you space aids sometimes P

Especially the magnate, which can be boosted to 1600m3 cargospace easily.

I'm not. Well I am a bit, considering I encouraged you a bit
and you actually thought about it. xD

Oh GD isn't half as bad if you know how to deal with it. :D

Actually this topic is in the right forum.

I know its rare, but it happens!

FYI: DOC's not really a doctor, so dont let him talk you into giving you a prostate exam.

Holy crap! Shocked I dont think that computes in my mind...

As for Doc doing his tests... He told me he loved me!!! *weeps*

On a serious note you should try having an ASB on a caldari missile boat whilst trying to fit cap boosters and missiles in your damned hold!!!

Ships with larger drone bays tend to have smaller cargo bays than their counter parts.

Well you can add cargospace to minmatar ships and they'd still be faster than
other ships with added cargospace...

I don't actually see the issue. If you have to reload ASBs or capboosters a lot
during a fight, you have lost that fight already anyway.

Unless you sit in a dual xl-asb rokh at undock as -10 counting seconds until
you have to dock. Damn, it'll take me ages until I can do that again...

Also, I know it's not the "in" thing to do since you never see them on "fits" listed by the "pros";

but consider equipping a medium core defense capacitor safeguard or two.

One shield boost amplifier on top of the vagabonds increased shield boosted traits stacks well, and the decrease capacitor need from the modifications means you attach a smaller, non-ancillary booster and your ability to sustain yourself increases drastically as long as you can manage your shield and capacitor properly. From my limited experience, trying to establish any sort of "cap stable" build with a shield booster worth a damn is a fallacy, so aim for something around 5 minutes.
