What is a realistic expectation in regards to what CCP promises?

Realistic: Nothing.

A friend recently rejoined for the 7 day reactivation thing.

He asked 'Why is the client like 8gig now, wasn't it like 3?, what have they added?!' Then asked about WiS and meeting rooms / atmospheric flight / mobile client.

I sat there and thought about it for a while and basically came up with Tier 3 BCs and some rebalancing.

This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main.

I'd say about 15% of what they promised. Ugh

Surprisingly... those aren't bad estimates. However, it does seems as though CCP is less prone to over-promise these days. I imagine the Incarna fiasco had a lot to do with this.

This seems even less likely given the recent departure.

That's pretty generous.

The actually made negative progress with ambulation -> wis -> incarna

I think -5% to 5% is what you can expect from them

If we are truly blessed, they won't ****-up something that works while trying to fix something unrelated.

A lot of really neat visuals for vaporware. However, code bloat will be delivered.

Which is something that I believe CCP is incapable of doing for EVE for now, as there are huge coding roadblocks when it comes to accomplishing anything major. After my initial months of play, it didn't take long for me to limit my expectations to the clean-up effort that the game is in dire need of. Fortunately, that is definitely happening.

That isn't to say I don't enjoy EVE for what it is. I do. Smile

My statement below is your answer from CCP ---

SadSadSad

CCP's sand box is EVE Online.  The sand is owned by CCP.  We pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other.  That is all that is here, so move along. Nothing more to be seen.

As we head towards another fanfest, I think it is time to reflect on a couple of the things that were promised last fanfest but are yet to manifest.

Three notable examples.
1. The EVE mobile ap, which apparently we were meant to have "in our hands" by this next Fanfest.
2. The vet station which was meant to be released (as a point release in Rubicon apparently).
3. Don't get me started on what was promised as coming "soon" in Dust 514 last year.

This isn't meant to be yet another "where is it CCP?" thread (but seriously CCP, where is it?), but given we are all about to have another dose of CCP kool-aid shoved down our collective throats, I'm curious what do you think is a realistic expectation on what CCP can deliver compared to what they promise?

Expect CCP to show off a few really awesome looking things then never ever talk about them again.

Expect nothing, then you won't be disappointed when nothing is delivered.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

May explain the empty promises.

You forgot to mention how most of the Eve playerbase will lap it all up as they always do after each fanfest only to realise they were duped yet again a few months later.

So the Eve player base is to blame for enabling this behaviour.

Fanfest should be an opportunity to protest the lack of promise fullfilment.

You could put it that way but I will give CCP credit for putting on a amazing few days. CCP know their audience exceedingly well and know how to get people eating out of their hands.

As a result everybody has a great time, all giddy from seeing lots of cool stuff, having a laugh with their friends, meeting new people, going out having fun, who wants to be a party pooper?

Call Of Duty: Ghosts looked more interesting than Seagull's "tweaks, enhancements and vision". Says enough?

All posts and mails screencapped and time stamped, including out of EVE, you will not reverse on me.

Might come in handy!
