Hey There...

Quick question, is a Advanced ship array (such as a Adv. large ship assembly array) interchangeable with a standard Assembly array (such as a Large Ship Assembly array) or are they used to manufacture different types of ship?

If you want to make both T1 and T2 ships in a POS and spend 10% extra materials for the T2 ships, then yes you need both.

The Advanced arrays are really only useful to T2 BPO holders.

you typed BPO

so a t2 BPC can be manufactured at a standard ship array?

No

Normal ship arrays are for T1 ships. Advanced ship arrays are for T2 ships.

The reason Tau typed "BPO" was because there's a 10% material penalty on advanced ship assembly arrays (you use 10% more material) and so it's only really the T2 BPO holders who can afford to use them. Invented BPC with an extra 10% waste tacked on would probably be unprofitable
