Looking for a Mentor!

So I have been playing Eve for about a week now and am having a blast. However, I feel it is time to start looking for a mentor to ease the learning curve.

Quick rap sheet would say that I am over 45 and have been gaming from the early teens in rules lawyer’s games such as Advanced Squad Leader (from before it was advanced) and Starfleet Battles (pre-doomsday). I have also been around the MMO’s for a while in Evercrack and as a progression raider in WOW.

That being said, I am looking for somebody who can help take some of the pain out of seeing what the finer points of the game are rather than just do this now and then do this type of hand holding; basically, somebody who can teach over point.

I am GMT -6 time zone and look forward to hearing from you.

O’Maley

Update: Thanks for the Post and Emails. You guys have been a great help.

You can also check out their channel in game.

Agony provides public class on how to PvP in EvE. Our BASIC class is run with frigates, and you can easily have the skill prereqs trained up prior to our next class. If this is something your interested in, check out our Q&A thread.

Also, if you send me a PM, I can cover your class fee. Personally, I think PvP is one of the best aspects of EvE, and I encourage you to try it.

Have spoken to you on a number of occasions during the period you said you were most often online with no reply. Can only assume you have long autopilot routes set or don't watch your chat console for flashes :P Will keep trying, add me.

Well I'll help those willing to learn when I get the chance. You can ask me questions and/or make friends in my public channel. (See my bio for the channel's name and a short guide on how to join channels).

I one of those kinda of teachers that might not always drop the answer in front of you and instead give you the dots and let you connect them yourself. A method that I find works damn well for the ones that don;t get frustrated when I hold the answer out on a stick in front of them xD

When it comes to combat I can give you fairly good insight as to why someone fits one way over the other but in regards to PVP I'm mostly theory and not so much practice. For that you have all of low sec as your classroom heheh.

I'm -7 GMT so maybe something can work out :D

It will be hard finding just a lone person who can act as a mentor so my advice to you is that you try to find a corp to join. I keep giving this out to people who are in similar situation as yourself, and i hope you will find it useful Big smile
