Gunboats can use different ammo types to be more effective, drone boats can use different drones to be more effective so why can´t missile boats do this? You can choose between short range or long range but that´s it.
It would be great if different missile damage types would apply damage differently as well.

1) Explosion radius
They all should have different explosion radius’s with Nova having the largest followed by Inferno and Mjolnir and Scourge having almost none.

2) Damage
They damage should be like the explosion radius´s. Nova doing most damage, then Inferno, Mjolnir and Scourge doing least.

3) Tracking/Agility
Tracking would simply be to how many degrees the missile can turn in flight per second.
Nova would be most agile, followed by Inferno, Mjolnir and Scourge.

4) Speed
Scourge should be the fastest missile, followed by Mjolnir, Inferno and Nova.

With these minor changes missiles would have a spectrum like drones have. Minmatar would have the best damage and be best at getting fast, agile ships. Caldari would have the best range and be better at getting smaller ships. Gallente and Amarr missiles would be somewhere in between

You have this already with pure damage selection.

Your variation in target application comes in the T2 ammo. Guns just get 2 T2 selections per turret size, essentially long range/low damage and short range/high damage. Missiles T2 ammo is 2 types per damage type, giving them greater flexibility in that area.

Basically, Missiles are different, and thats OK.

T2 missiles give you this. Missiles also give you one of the most powerful options in the game, the ability to switch damage types with NO loss of dps.
