Player Features and Ideas Discussion

After much prolonged Looking at the Drone Navigation Computer, I have noticed a few things about it. One is that it is a module designed to increase the Micro-warp Drive speed of the drones currently in space doing, PvP, PvE, or even Mining. This module; however, doesn't preform the way that it describes it to preform, effectively making it useless for the drones which would actually benefit from being able to go at faster rates. Heavy drones (And Fighters after this Expansion) Do not experience any kind of buff, or bonus from using these Modules.

Currently the Module works by giving a flat Newton bonus to the Thrust of the Drone's MWD. This makes it rather useful for the smaller drones by providing a noticeable increase in MWD speed, but doesn't effect the larger drones at all due to their size. What I am proposing, is that we should change the Module away from being restricted to a Single class size of Drone. I know CCP has been doing an excellent (in my Opinion) job with the rebalances to Drones, and the Mining Barges, yet if this module gets any faction variants, they still will not be worth it. The current stats for the Module are Poor. Providing a flat rate to MWD speed doesn't effect your drones, and the module is almost never used by anyone who knows just how the bonus works.

Here is what I am currently planning to try to make this module worth fitting, make it viable in a PVP setting, and actually have it useful for Mining Drones, besides an actual Buff to the drone Speed.

Proposed Changes:

Drone Navigation Computer T1: 5% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity

Drone Navigation Computer T2: 7.5% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity

Unit D-34343's Modified Drone Navigation Computer: 10% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity

Unit F-435354's Modified Drone Navigation Computer: 10.25% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity

Unit P-343554's Modified Drone Navigation Computer: 10.75% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity

Unit W-634's Modified Drone Navigation Computer: 11% Increase to Drone Maximum Velocity


Now those Stat Changes are a bit funky I know; However, with later tier drones, like Heavy Drones and Fighters, You will absolutely notice a change in how fast they are going, yet you won't notice a change in their Tracking speed (Which is how this is balanced out, this changes how fast you get to a target, but would also effect the drone's orbital velocity making it have a hard time tracking the target it is shooting) As we have modules in place which already do that task.

On the plus side, It might provide incentive to use Mining drones, providing a buff to their speed from returning from an Asteroid might make them more useful than they are now. For Heavy drones, using these with an Ishtar could lead to more brawling fleets and less sniper fleets as the Ishtar already gets a skill bonus to the Heavy Drone Speed and Tracking. I welcome any kind of change to these types modules, as the less modules are completely useless (Like this one is currently) I find we can get some more diversity on the PvP grounds, and on ship fittings. Leading to some crazy fleet set ups that could provide much needed Novelty to the field of Conflict.
