Out of Pod Experience

After events today in GD I have decided to permanently leave the game and the forums. I say goodbye to my many friends in game, I wish you well, to CCP, the ISD and the despicable people who make a large part of these forums I feel disgusted by you.

CCP - You have shown a complete lack of ability to enforce the rules on your forums and in your game. You have shown a complete lack of judgement in your decisions both in game and on the forums in relation to the well being and good reputation of your game. You have shown a distinct lack of respect, lack of regard and a focused derision to the majority of your player base.

One only has to look at the atrocious behavior of the people posting in my thread, which was ignored, despite breaching almost every rule you have in your own EULA. You allow players on the forums to belittle, harass, insult, degrade, threaten and cajole other uses of the forums. These forums are easily the most disgusting forums I have ever used because of your ineptitude in enforcing your rules and because of a core group of posters who feel the need and and believe they have a right to harass and abuse other forum users for "lolz".

ISD - you have shown a complete disregard in terms of your duty to enforce the rules. You arbitrarily enforce the no discussion of warnings while completely ignoring every other rule in terms of behavior and respect towards other forums users. This was clearly evident in your ignorance of the abusive, trollish, disrespectful and immature posts in the thread you locked earlier.

As a 10 year player of EvE and one of the players that helped EVE get off the ground I find CCP's complete disdain towards harassment of myself and its position towards harassment of EvE players in general shows a lack of morality, good sense and judgement.

While I wish CCP the best in the future I feel that I am unable to be associated with the company anymore. You have lost your way and I doubt very much you will ever find it again. EvE is suffering for it and if the general feeling of the MMO community is to go by, that suffering is quite clearly aimed it the lack of respect, lack of support and lack of morality as a result of your poor decisions in regards to the metagame and other players antisocial interactions towards your player base, clearly designed to cause them to leave the game or not enjoy it.

Quite frankly I think CCP is the only games company who support the idea of making its player base quit out of disgust of the mechanics and players who exploit them. That's a lose lose position to take imo.

You lied or at least failed to provide proof of your accusations; attempted to intimidate people, then insulted, trolled, abused and disrespected everybody that disagreed with you; which was pretty much everybody.

Eve is not for everyone, it's a shame it took you 10 years to realise it wasn't for you, Eve would have been a better place if you'd have quit years ago.

Me too. Shoot the ship, shoot the pod. Smack talk a little if you want, then move on. Seems like that ought to be enough interpersonal drama in a spaceships game.

Edit: But if there's some practical ingame reason for playing mind games on someone, that seems legit to me. For example, you want to intimidate a rival group, bewilder them with misinformation, create distrust between the members, break the group's confidence in its leadership, etc. That seems legit, because there's an ingame strategic benefit to be gained from it. But to just go consistently go after a player, because you don't like him as a person....

For the 'tough guy' image you are trying to project with your canine and motorcycle images, you seem to be the absolute polar opposite with your posts -

I don't think the EvE community is losing too much with your departure. Funny to see that a single person was able to get under your skin enough to make you quit. Looks like you aren't so tough, after all. Just another cry-baby. I guess they won, in the end.

i don't agree with harassment and from reading the original thread i think that you do legitimately feel you were harassed. and perhaps you are right. i also believe you went about handling it in a poor way. and you had to know inside what result would occur if you brought it to the forums in this manner.

i honestly hope you get it worked out one way or another. whether finding a better time elsewhere or through the legitimate channels available to us.
