WiS is/was a massive waste.

There just isn't any content to go along with it.

Perhaps if DUST and EVE had been better integrated, there would have been potential there.

Can someone explain to me what good WiS would do? What content exactly?

Amazing to see how a simple post can get so heated. Yay forums!

I think it's obvious that there are some player that would welcome the idea, and some players that would kick it right in the b*lls..
So why not have the option to use it if you want or not? Kinda like we have the options to enter captains quarters or not?

Or even the separate client idea? (I know nothing about the server mechanics, please don't shun me)

Many Veteran Eve players would prefer to keep the game as a simple Internet Spaceships game, but should that prevent other players who might like to try other gameplay from joining the Eve Universe? It may open up the playerbase and provide more income to CCP?

Either or, if it come's ill be happy.. if it doesn't I won't care. Like I said.. WOD canned just sparked a thought.

:)

Because the money time and effort that would go into WIS could go to make what we have now better. Nothing rubs against my grain more then when a game spends time adding useless fluff like skins and wis when what we have now doesnt work. Like POS and SOV mechanics and ship balance etc...

I am all for adding new stuff but not at the cost of neglecting to fix what’s still broken. I prefer to fly a balanced ship over a PINK ship.

Well, even surgeon sometimes break some badly grown bones, when he is intending to better the situation. And there could be complications, patient can die on the table... P

It's not a waste if people enjoy it, just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean it should be abandoned and forgotten about.

The avatars are amazing, the character creation is the best in any game i've ever seen, the captains quarters are incredibly well designed and detailed.

The issue is the content which i believe could be easily added as long as they keep it simple
-add station gambling via casinos
-add a station chat tab

Next expansion
-add site exploration, as a slender man meets resident evil style.

Think small cool immersive minigames. Not CoD style stations raids or assassinating each other while we sleep in our private quarters and a lot can be done with the current engine.

WiS needs to exist, yes, but it also needs content. Letting players own and operate their own casinos would be nice, but considering the number of stations and players in EVE, only a handful of people would be successful at it.

In order to be a genuine sandbox, WiS needs to be EiS - EVE in Stations. that means there need to be resources to gather, things to build, territory to claim and markets to corner. For my money, those resources should fold back into the spaceships game.

I envision things like:

1: hacking Caldari megacorporate research offices and stealing the blueprints for prototype modules that, say, are WAY better when overheating, but only when overheating, and they burn out fast, or which have a reduced CPU requirement but need more PG.

2: a slick Ocean's 11-style heist against an Inherent Implants facility where you steal the components to build new and interesting types of implant which do interesting things like give you more shield HP or some passive armour regen, or a smaller sig radius.

3: datamining a Republic Security Services station for viruses that can be loaded into your analysers like charges, but you run the risk of having an RSS strike team come down on you and lose standings.

4: accepting a contract from Poteque to run a medical facility on their behalf, so you make money from selling clones to other players, with the option of customising the type of clone you sell by acquiring and installing cloning technology that, say, increases the SP they store, or gives them an extra implant slot.

5: All of which should be the foundation of an in-depth, player-driven smuggling system where all of these goods - the blueprints, the implant parts, the viruses and the clone technology - are contraband, which have to be traded by meeting people in shady clubs and transferring the goods and ISK at a below-decks meet which can be interrupted by player customs enforces resulting in a shootout and where customs agents are players in space who've taken a contract to scan cargo and who gain kill rights when they catch a smuggler.

the point is that EiS should be a sandbox which interacts with and enhances the space side of things, but comes with its own dangers and consequences, risk-vs-reward gambles and opportunity for PvP and mayhem.

My favorite dream is the fabulous CEO having billions and billions of ISK to ensure security, wanders into a station and gets back-stabbed by a n00b at a hamburger stand. In other words...walking in station, very bad idea. Want a toon to walk around with? Get a game with toons you walk around with. There's hundreds!

Some people would rather be able to do everything in one game. Myself included. If the solution to a problem is play another game, the problem is catastrophic and the first game to do both will hurt EvE.

This game can't afford to be flippant with serious community building mechanics.
