Hello,

I've been trying to kill mission runners for three days no with no success..so obviously im doin somethin wrong .

I know the flagging mechanics and i have the basics covered but for some reason they stil won't agress me.

I scan them down using a cov ops , save the spot , doc up and swap to a tristan(tried with a magnate aswell) and begin to salvage. When i see a full wreck i loot it to become suspect..at that point they warp off.

I even tried shooting the mtu..still nothing.

Help?

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

Where are you doing this at? The more popular systems around the main mission hubs are populated by older carebears who know that someone in their mission pocket can only be a precursor to a bad thing. A good place to start doing this is a level 2 or 3 mission hub. Use the agent locator to find a good one, preferably away from a major trade hub.

Here's a few things I've found that work, or at very least increase your chances.

1. Steal in a hauler - that way they see an easy kill and will often take it. Obviously use an Itty V or similar, tanked with a prop mod, not something very fragile. Once aggressed, warp out, pick up pewmobile and return.

2. Aim for missions with required items, such as Damsel and Worlds. They don't like it when you take them, more so than run of the mill loot.

3. Private convo them once in the pocket and make inferences concerning their parentage. You'll often get laughed at or derided, but sometimes you'll get one that it hits a nerve with.

4. Flip your alt, let him mock you in local for being terrible. Do it twice if need be and post lossmails too. Anything that builds confidence in others that you're not going to come back in something bigger.

5. If you're going to steal in small ships, try a faction frigate. Again it looks like more of a tempting kill for the mission runner.

Good luck to you. My very first crash was a Navy Scorp worth 3b and almost 2b dropped... I haven't looked back since :)

Feyd wrote an excellent blog on this.

This will put you on the right path.

Feyd estimates one in 8 take the bait, and other mission invaders estimate that of the ones that do take the bait, 10% do it in an intelligent, effective way (the rest are free kills).

Try a not very well known level 4 mission agent that has moderate traffic.

Do it in low sec. You'd be surprised to how many little mission hubs are out here. No funny aggro mechanics to worry about either. Of course, finding the blinged out faction battleships takes a lot more searching. The pay out isn't nearly as big but its certainly not unheard of to bag a dozen drakes in the coarse of an afternoon.

Always shoot the MTU. Whether you think they'll take the bait or not.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

This. They leave killmails, at which point you start talking in local about "ah, loot fairy hates me, X, Y and Z didn't drop".

That often gets the missioner a little aggrevated.

You'd be surprised at how quickly it will boost your isk efficiency too, if you are enamored of such things. Damn near everyone has one or two, so it's super easy to kill a whole bunch fairly quickly.

Tag to -5 (this is super cheap), then buy one of the more expensive tags (-4.5), then head to Apanake, dodging facpo on the way in.

Lol, no. Once you've been doing it for a little while you'll get to know what's what simply by recognising scenery, specific rats and acceleration gate arrangements. Worlds Collide, for example, is easy to recognise with the two widely spaced groups of rats and gates, as is Damsel in Distress which has the two large Pleasure Hubs and Krull.

Some missions also have non-essential but more expensive items that can also help to anger the runner if collected. Arnie Scarett's social implant, for example, in Dread Pirate Scarlett. Let's not forget that many mission runners are fuelled by greed, and this is one more thing you can play on.

It's just about knowing your target's habits, wants and desires and pressing the right buttons. Doesn't always work, but sometimes a little knowledge goes a long way.

I seem to remember almost losing a Harpy to a mission pocket not long after warp-in once. It was some environmental hazard in an empty deadspace pocket with a far-off acceleration gate. Damn near put me into structure.

To this day I'm still not sure which mission it was but you bet your bumcheeks I warped outta there quick.

I'd say learning which mission you invade is definitely a huge part of it. Sometimes it's fairly easy to work out, other times not so much.

I'm in your mission, stealin' your loots.

Recon 3/3, and you can avoid that by pointing an unfiltered directional scanner at the mission to see if they're even making wrecks. In fact, you can learn a lot about a mission before warping into it that way.

Who put the goat in there?

I need more practise it seems. I got a weekend off coming up soon (easter is always so busy yuck) I'll find some carebears to play with.
