Both Soundwave and Navigator went to Riot, stillman went to an Icelandic IT Security firm and Unifex hasn't announced where he is going next.

It seems like CCP is losing employees left and right. Anyone care to speculate as to why?

ITT: Stealth Eve is dying thread.

No. Business lose people, gain new ones, this is nothing. It COULD be something, but I doubt it.

Seems like it's happening in pretty quick succession though.

Not doesn't. CCP is small compaired to larger companies, so when someone leaves it makes a bigger impact. But tis still nothing. As I said it COULD be, but eve seems stable, so boo knows. I honestly am not worried about it at this time.

Maybe they want to evolve or see opportunities. Maybe they are sick of it all - because CCP is not happy people center, it's just another gamescompany and the business is a harsh cold world with a lot of other people and stuff to do that you're gonna hate when you work there, usually like in the company you work for yourself . We do not know, because most of don't work there - all we can do is thank them for all wish them a good fortune.

Maybe he just want to be able to play with his main again? If Lord Zap or someone comes back in the next couple of week that's when you can start to suspect things.

It wasn't on the front page so I assumed it didn't exist.

That's correct logic right?

If you work, what's the turnover rate in your own workplace?

It's not 0.

All businesses and government organisations have a natural rate of turnover and the tech industry has one of the highest rates of turnover amongst large industries. (2013 PayScale survey results discussed here).

People moving is not itself a reason for alarm. If the rate changes, or is out of step with other companies in the same industry, then it needs closer attention.

From what I know of CCP, it seems there is nothing extraordinary about their turnover rate. It seems to be quite low by industry standards, but I'm sure not every staff departure results in a thread in GD, so I could be wrong.

Maybe I am making more out of it than there is to be made since I've met each of these people in person at fanfest. Just seems high to me.

To answer your first question most places I've worked have a turnover of around 2 maybe 3 employees a year.

How many employees total?

I've worked in an industry with extremely low turnover and a few years ago strategies were introduced nationally to increase it to 10% in order to bring in fresh ideas and more youth (to help with succession planning as a retirement bubble was developing). My current work has a 7% turnover (which is mandated by our maximum allowed tenure of 7-years in the Organisation).

I'm not saying there is no issue at CCP, just that people leaving isn't itself evidence of a problem. 40-year careers in the one place aren't the norm anymore. You can still find industries with long careers, but most people are much more mobile these days. The IT industry especially so.

I know a lot of you guys like to think that you know how CCP is dying from attrition, or that they just won't have enough developers to wipe your POS related tears if they work on WIS, or how ship skins or rebalancing or refining nerfs will start a mass lemming abandonment of EVE for Star Citizen.. but I really just wish you'd stop.

You post on a forum. You don't manage CCP's finances, hire or work with its developers, or understand CCP's development direction until the company decides to tell you in a dev post. Can we keep our discussions to the game itself? And if you have to criticize the company who develops the game we all really like.. why not take the extra time and do it politely?

If you are so focused on the employment habits of game developers, then you seriously need to get a life.

CCP is a business.....not your family.

CCP is concerned with your money.....not your feelings.

"CCP (fill in blank)" works for a living. Not for your pleasure.

Losing employees, firing most of White Wolf Atlanta, cancelling WoD, yeah seems rosy to me

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Really, CCP's turnover is well within expectations for the industry, and everything I've seen so far indicates that this is just a regular operational change.
