Previously I had a little bit of respect for you as someone who disagreed with the new order and its goals. After reading this post I lost that. Did you really think even the slightest before coming on the official public Eve Forums and telling someone not to report bots? Botters ruin the game for other miners by driving ore prices down, and making what should be a profitable profession into a mindless grind for pennies. Say what you will about gankers targeting AFK or untanked miners, but don't defend people breaking the EULA in a public space.

/end real talk

Although I care nothing for your respect, my course of action would be to talk to the CEO. See how he reacts. If he doesn't do anything, I'd either:

A. AWOX the corp
B. Leave the corp

Depending on how the vibe in the corp is. But I still stand by my statement, I would not petition CCP because I don't feel like it's my duty to do so. I'll report botters once they do something about ISBoxer, how's that

Sadly nobody gave a good answer.
C+P, you're failing at this one.

Try this :
(assuming he's not mining in caldari space)
buy a griffin
fit it with a few gallente ECMs
get in his belt
jam it (easy even with low skills) -beware of the drones aha-
wait a bit
stop jamming him

1) he's complaining => maybe not a bot (but a few people use bots while looking at the screen ; just to lazy to click on the lil' lasers)
2) he stops mining until the DT => a bad bot
3) he is mining back immediately => a good bot.

Is their any other way to see if he is botting?

Since this is technically a crime/against the rules, i thought this would belong here.

If your corp would actually follow the Code, you wouldn't be here discussing this.

BUT....

You can always kick him out (when he docks up).....OR.....

You can have some serious, side-splitting hilarity with your buddies by making games out of him!

Offer a prize of who can bump him the farthest! You'll be amazed on what you can fit on some ships.

How about just kill him while mining?....Set up a standard fit ship you can all fly and offer prizes for top damage....final blow....who killed the pod!

If you don't want to stop there, after you guys kill him (and/or pod) the challenge would be to race back to the station and grab a hauler and see who can get the loot first. You can even expand on that and fit out 'Battle Badgers' and make the challenge of 'who can get the loot to the station first' as you all hilariously scram/web/ shoot each other in a epic FFA fight to see who can make it back with the loot.

That sounds like a blast, I might actually set something like that up even without a botter in my corp.

If someone is botting they need to be reported. I'm not really supportive of the miner bumping crowd but comments like this give them more credibility that miners support botting.

ISBoxer actually requires you to be at the keyboard. It just makes the same click on multiple clients of Eve. This isn't even close to a bot program that plays the game for you 23 1/2 hours a day

It really doesn't surprise me that internet nerds cry to CCP when someone breaks the precious rules. I mean, after all, you've been doing that your whole life, amirite?

Lets just agree that some of you like to cry and whine to whoever feigns interest when the bad men do bad things, and some of us keep our mouths shut and do our ******* jobs, and don't get involved with the business of others, mmm'kay?

I don't support botting, because I don't do it. Do I give a **** if someone else is botting? No, they'll get caught in due time. If they don't get caught? CCP sucks at doing their jobs. It's not my job to rat out botters, I would rather applaud them for evading GM's and people parsing through log data.

I knew gamers were a soft bunch, but for the love of God, grow some kind of spine, please, it's just plain embarrassing.

If you're not going to help with removing the bots then you are part of the problem. I think I'll just watch list your corp and track you down. See if I can spot this 'bot' in your ranks myself.

I derped. Apologies. That being said, anyone who is complacent towards bots is in my opinion, an enemy of EVE itself. Bots should be reported whenever they are seen, regardless of whether they are red, grey or blue.

This is very true. I was surprised to see support for botting in this thread. By "support" I mean people who help those that bot. If you know someone is botting and just ignore it you're it you're no better than the botter.

Yes it's CCP's job to catch these people but remember Eve is all about the players. We make the game and can have a much greater influence than a few CCP employees. Make your game better not worse!

I don't think the miner bumper crowd helps the game in general but with people who think botting is acceptable I can see they have a purpose.

i dealt with one once, here is how i confronted him:

1- i suspected he was botting, and others were too and mailed me about it

2- i started to follow him around durring his mining sessions, tried convo etc... to no avail

now, on the convo thing, it by itself doesn't means "bot" because you CAN deny automatically any convo (see eve settings), AND we were at the time in conflict with ppl "abusing" mass convo during fight, so most of us had this setting up and running

tho, he was not responding in intel chat

3- followed him for a few days, noticed a clear pattern especially on the timing

4- when he undocked, i started bumping him to prevent warp (out of corp alt so not posible to scram with concord)

-> the bot might have crashed or entered a random loop because after 20 sec of bumping, he started burning away of the station.

gone to sleep, in the morning, his hulk was still on dscan from the undock, quick probed him, was still burning away.

kept following him

then his main account connected, and hulk suddenly turned away, warped back to station and dropped connection.

had a quick talk with him, and corp CEO, was reported as bot and kicked from the corp.

this was a year ago, same player is still botting with same toons (there are 3 at least) tho, despite he had been reported several time to ccp

you don't understand the sandbox concept.

this is what i think, not what everyone shall think.

i like that i CAN get involved with others business, and provided i put enought effort, ruin it.

this is not guaranted tho, and they can, provided they in turn, put effort, protect themselve from ppl who want to ruin their business.

i ruin some ppl business, while i help other's business by doing so.

it is not how you want to play, fine with me, but that is how I want to play
