No, but it prepares you for a special guest appearance on EVENews24 or TheMittani when you get ganked in your pimped missioning ship.

PVP prepares you for PVP.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

But isnt that like saying "dont go in the water until you learn how to swim?"

No, missions do not prepare you for PvP except by giving you a relatively safe environment in which to learn how to use your targeting and weapons systems.

What prepares you for PvP is PvP. Join RvB, Faction Warfare or simply attend an Agony PvP class, and you will learn more about PvP in one day than a lifetime of mission-running.

In fact I posit that the more missions you run, the harder it will be for you to get into PvP. Mission-running teaches you a lot of very bad habits.

No, it's like saying, "throwing you in the pool and helping you not drown is how we teach you to swim."

No, it's like saying “go into the water so you can learn how to swim”.

More like saying drowning isn't so bad when you're immortal.

Yeah... missions prepare you for PvP just like CoD prepares you for the military.

No, it's like saying "don't go into the 10 meter diving section when you can't handle the 1 meter shallows".

In other words learn using cheap frigates instead of expensive ships. Actually, if anything missions teach you that bigger ships worth more ISK are better which just isn't so.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

I retract my explanation and support this one instead.

Just remember to wear the cheap swimming trunks because you will soil them the first couple of times.

Grinding leads to botting, botting leads to RMT, RMT leads to PvP versus CCP.

Aye, learning mechanics via PVE will serve fine, just watch some big fleet pvp vids to get a sense of the rest

Forums are good if you want to read and follow orders

Bad if you have an opinion and your alliance ballgags you

Really, the best prep for PVP is lowsec or empire during wardecs - both sides of that coin. Enjoy the pain :P My current corp decced mine 5 years ago and I've been mates with em ever since (altho tbf i think that's just me, rest of corp not so much)

The most annoying mechanics exist in empire/low, but tbh the best smack ingame, because you have to force a fight. Some of which is genuinely funny, whereas nullsec is more about puffing up and strutting, posting crappy asciiss and pron - then someone else hotdropping 3 carriers with 190 man fleet you might get to be part of Roll

v0v small gang is harder, but more rewarding - do blobsec for too long and you'll just mentally switch off. Try a bit of both mebe? Smallgang/solo and large scale?

Depends on which definition of "prepare" you look at.

1. to put in proper condition or readiness -- nope.

2. to get (a meal) ready for eating, as by proper assembling, cooking, etc. -- sounds about right.

Yes. Grinding missions prepares you for PVP in the same way a turkey is prepared for Thanksgiving.

Who put the goat in there?

Join RvB or BNI. Just do it. Don't wait until you are "ready." You won't ever be ready. Take this from someone who wasted almost a year doing PvE and nearly cancelled my sub until some kind gankers rescued me.

Even lowsec ninja-mining in a Venture will prepare you for PVP more than running L4s in a Navy Raven.

Spending all of your teenage years anticipating getting laid and then having it last 10 seconds when it happens is what prepares you for PVP.
