Capturing points mechanic.

Hello

Im fairly new to FW. What i wonder about is the capturing mechanics.
What i already understud is:

1. you can go to enemy faction controlled system and get into plexes - destroy npc and the timer starts, after its done you captured it.
2. you can go to your own faction controlled system and search for enemy players trying to capture it.


What i still dont get and would like to know:

1. Once the player kills NPC guard and timer starts is there a way to stop or reverse it or you have to wait till enemy finishes capturing it to recapture it? Trying to scare off or kill capturign players have any influence on capturing mechanic or just on their ability to get reward for it? Or once captured it disapears and new one appears somewhere in system?

Basically, whoever is in the plex gets to run the timer. If a WT is in a plex from your faction, and you run him out, you get to run down the timer. If they force you out, they get to run down the timer.

The crappy part is that if some squid has been sitting in a Gallente novice plex for 7 minutes, and I heroicly curbstomp him into the ground, I now have to sit there for 17 minutes to capture the plex. That's 10 minutes for the original timer, plus the 7 he was inside cackling at the LP he'd be getting.

This sets up a dynamic where if someone's been running a plex for a while, it's generally not worth sticking around to deplex it. You get a lot less LP for putting in a lot more time, and have the opportunity cost of all those tasty killmails you're giving up by spinning buttons in your deadspace fit Daredevil.

That doesn't hold true for systems that are actually being fought over. In those cases pretty much every plex is fought over until the bitter end. We've reshipped several times to capture a single plex when we've gone after systems like Heyd, Old Man Star, Enaluri, Oicx, or Innia.

If a war target is capturing a complex and you enter the complex it will stop the timer. If you kill the target the timer will start counting down for your faction. So if the target ran a novice compound for 1 minute before you came in and either kicked him out or killed him you will have to run the minute he ran + the normal timer. So for you to finish the novice it will take you 11 minutes, 10 + 1 that the target ran. A player only gets a reward, LP, after completely running the timer down. This goes for offensive and defensive plexing. Once the complex is completed it will despawn and then 30 minutes later a new one will reappear in system.
