Wondering when I should look at cashing out the Rattlesnakes I've been holding since February.

i am holding onto my collection of guristas ships and will most likely lose them all in glorious fire.
Price spiked already.
Someone bought all the BPC on contracts so supply will spike soon.
Either sell now or wait until after the changes go live and people start losing them in numbers.
People will use it for PVP.
People will bling it out and get ganked running missions more.

As you have said before you have quite a few then maybe shed them over time so at least some catch the high point.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

My 20 BPCs (purchased for 4800-4900m) are now worth just under 9b. And that Jita price on the hull keeps going up up up.

I am liking today, every bit as much as I knew I would. Oh to have had more capital to go deeper in on this one.

The potential of wanting a Rattlesnake in future for personal use will not impact my decision on whether to sell or hold. If in two years time I want to use a Rattlesnake, I will purchase one then and will not regret the fact that I used to own twenty but sold them off. Rattlesnakes are consumables and highly liquid items on the market and I will treat them that way (assuming I ever train shields and get Caldari Battleship to level 1, let alone 5).

I'm leaning toward selling tonight, as soon as I return from work. Not because I think they will not get higher, but because I think that I can make more profit from an extra 10b in trading and production capital than any capital gains from holding Rattlesnakes for longer.

I have to admit that when I sold the first batch of hulls with a net profit of more than 200M per hull, I couldn't suppress my laughter. This is my first successful pre patch speculation with an ammount of ISK that most people wouldn't deem insignificant. Yarr! Pirate

I've rename one hull to "Not For Sale" and nicked it as salary for a job well done.

But except for sentimental value I agree with your statement ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Hrm... I'm probably missing something, as for my purposes, I really don't see the benefits of the new Rattlesnake.

I have only 3 and am planning to sell.

I'll probably be moving all my alts into Dominix or Navy Issue; they are currently training for armor tanking for this reason [they already have Gallente Battleship 5 from the Rattlesnake].

The Rattlesnake seems, to me at least, to be moving towards a PvP oriented split-weapons meta using combat drones rather than sentries.

I'll have to see what they are like on SiSi for PvE with sentries first though.

the new rattlesnake is a better mission ship than the old one as far as I can see. granted, your drone control range is lower, but it is still plenty enough for most missions. you can probably get away with having only 3-4 slots in tank and investing the rest into damage mods (including rigor rigs). the two sentries are a very good option for finishing off targets that your missiles did not quite kill and the total paper dps speaks for itself.

full disclosure: i also have a small stack of rattler hulls lying around, but in retrospect i wish i went way deeper in there.

I should buy an Ishtar.

It has Ishtar drone damage, alongside unbonused battleship missile damage (albeit with worse baseline application).

Then it has an amazing shield tank.

It's solid, IMO.

Although the demand of the ship has increased since the dev blog, the stability of guristas (read: CFC and BL mission hub) space is so good that the bottleneck just isn't there.

Something to think about.
