Upgrading Trial vs Buying

So I have been playing for a few days and I've decided that I'm definitely into Eve. I'm actually sad I have never given it a run before this time.. it's really something else and just what I am looking for.

However, I am faced with a bit of a problem. I have started a Trial and while I am only a couple days in I really like where I am.

If I upgrade from the Trial and buy the Three months it will cost me approx 45.00

However, If I look at the same page while not logged in, if I buy the game with the "Winter Sale" I can get those same three months for 30.00 and I get a free Ship.

I mean.. money is money and it comes and goes.. but is the ship and savings together worth just making a new account while I only have a few days invested?

Long run doesn't matter will just mean a few extra bucks in your pocket, what you need to ask yourself is- is a few bucks enough to make me repeat a few days. Personally I prefer the money.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

I would say that losing two days of training in exchange for 15$ is a worthwhile trade, but it's really a personal call on your part.

If it'll tilt your decision, remember that trial accounts can actually use the isk transfer system and the market; while you can't contract all your stuff to the new character you CAN sell it and give the new character the isk. Since a two-day-old character is mostly going to have baseline T1 stuff which sells for 90%+ of its average value, you can then just buy most of it back with the new toon.

You don't even really need to re-run the training missions you've already done, since the books are usually on sale in the starter stations for almost nothing.

(You could also try parking your trial character and your new one in the same station and see if you can trade items directly. I'm not sure whether trial accounts can do that or not.)

Remember that if you want to re-use this character's name you will need to delete him before you can make him again on the new account. Welcome to EVE :)

up to you, when it comes to 15$. Ships I got when I started playing eve (last october) were garbage standard t1 frigs you can buy with pretty much any money making activity. The fits for these ships will cost a lot more. If your offer considers unique ships it's also a trap - you get a ship that you will either never use or will get insta popped in.

I'm almost religious when it comes to skill points, because it's the only thing I cannot reasonably think of buying (character bazaar is out of my income range because I don't have enough time to farm so much) I would prolly go with 45$ option. Also - I tend to care for my character names and portraits (this could tell you Balshem was intended to be an under-used alt :P) so I would stick to what I started with.

Last thing to consider - think about what you can do with a near 0 SP toon. If you're ok with mining for less/killing slower then it's a + for 30$ option.

If you are only a few days in, I'd Buy a new account, and put the $15 towards a starting PLEX gift to yourself. As a starting character, starting out with 650M Isk in the pocket is nice. Downside, it may encourage you to get into a pricier ship before you should (speaking from experience here) so avoid that temptation. Personally, 2 days isn't massive in the scheme of things. Even a week. The 2nd time I went through the tutorials and mission arcs, I was a lot more knowledgeable, got through them faster, and ended up doing a little better.

You could also 6 or 12 month sub. If you get bored for a bit, play skill que / chat online. Still not an expensive vice for a couple /unlimited hours of entertainment / month.

If I had to do it over, I'd have waited for that dip in price on Steam when the game is like $5 bucks. Course, I probably wouldn't play it through steam even then.

I think you are neglecting the trial time, which is added to your game time. So, if you started with a 21 day trial, then pay the $45, for 90 days, you are actually getting 90+21. PLUS, whomever's code you used to ge tthe 21 day trial gets a month.

So, the optimal would be to find a player willing to split the reward for the invite a friend thing, get the 21-day trial, + 90 days for $45, and hundreds of millions of ISK kicked back to you by the player that gave you the invite to 21-day trial.

I second this. It's how I started my EvE life.

You can browse through the various offers from current players, use their trial codes, then upgrade that account.
Usually, they will all give you 50%-90% of the current PLEX price, often a ship or implants etc.

You also get some support from the player with advice etc.
