In my experience some stuck sounds are related to having the Map window open while shifting systems. ANd that is fairly easy to reproduce. Dont know if it is related to the issue at hand though.

That is easy to reproduce and a different issue.
but it's correct, because of the switching off of the graphics engine, when opening the map, so the audio code for stopping the sound is never called.

Discrimination. Sad

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

yup. it's on it's way.
just some small human / machine mistake along the pipeline which caused this. sorry.

I hope this is for real. I only take the time to write this response because this has been genuinely bothering me for years now, as it makes enjoying the other sounds of combat in highly rat populated areas a real pain in the butt.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like radio chatter. But much of it sounds more like garbled gibberish barely reminiscent of real chatter. Why the hell are they talking that much anyways? Everyone watching the latest alliance tournament holos and have to share every detail over the comms? Come on... Would LOVE to hear comms that respond to your actions. Every once in a while, hearing a muffled scream come across the comms as you pop a commanders ship could be highly entertaining (and rewarding!)

What is that god awful sound everytime i undock/land where deployables are on grid? (i think that is the cause) That little weird dead animal sound or something...can't think of a better way to describe it. Its like it loads a grid with RF'd depots and has to play a certain sound...regardless of distance to that structure.

It's just a human mistake.
everything ended up outside of the mixing hierarchy, so you can't control anything. which of course, you should :D

I'll note it down.
Certainly sounds like a bug.

I can understand everyone being annoyed at the lack of sound level control, but I hope that the new sample loops added to docked stations, or "ambient alien chatter", remains as an option. Even as loud as it was, I totally loved it. I think all the new sound file additions were right at the top of my list of favs from 1.1 update. I don't envy anyone who has the task of mixing down that many files and samples, esp if you have to start with another engineers files. Thanks for all the hard work CCP sound design team!!!

Thank you. :)
we appreciate the support.

A lot of massive stuff is being presented from us at Fanfest (May 1st - 3rd)
if any of you are there, come by and say hello.

I will be at the audio roundtable and some of the VR and Valkyrie roundtables, and when they are not up, I will just be around talking to people.

say hi if you participated in this thread, would be really awesome to put faces on you and have a chat about what is happening.
there will be some big changes coming and I have been listening to a lot of you regarding this, it will be presented at the audio roundtable and mentioned around fanfest as one of the bigger improvements coming for next expansion.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting you all and come join the audio team or at least join me for the pubcrawl with a dev :D it was super fun last time and my liver was screaming for about two weeks after!!!

(if you are on my kill rights list, you owe me a beer)

I may very well bump into you at #FF14, first in 10 years and last before the future kids. The teasing tweet has certainly piqued my interest so I'll be waiting to see what you have to back it up with. Smile

You mean guns sounds will actually sound cool...?

I watched the Star Citizen Video prez the other day, and dear god when those yellow auto cannons fired up I got chills....

I really wish guns (in particular rail hybrids) actually sounded beefy... :(

no, they sound quite awesome the way they are.

but you should look forward to Valkyrie then - it has a "kind of" similar sound to it.
but if you don't think they sound beefy in EVE, then I assume you either zoom out a lot or you haven't really fired up your audio system.

have in mind that there is quite a big different between being sat right behind a gun being fired inside a cockpit, than being a 3rd party camera far away.

Ain't gonna say anything related to Star Citizen, other than I was expecting more, from that game play vid.

EVE sounds get a lot of grief, they ARE pretty awesome guys, come on.

EDIT: Well they are now MWD and AB doesn't fire in my ear for every cycle eh Blink

Sad times. And no I don't have my camera zoomed out all the way. And I assure you guns don't sound anything like what I would expect on the low end. I don't have a crap system, but I dont have a high end one either.

We will have to agree to disagree on the guns sounding fine issue. As it is any size of hybrid sound like pea shooters, and my system is in no way responsible for that as other games don't have this problem.
