I got a little excited when I read it on Ars Technica as they kept it under wraps quite well. But after reading another site that stated Brian and Sid wont be actively involved my heart sank a little.

It still has customised units and expanding to other planets as the game progresses sounds interesting.

I wonder if you can still use nerve gas covertly during sun spot activity... Twisted

My only disappoint is the video is just a cinematic, and shows no game play really. Just like all the latest EVE videos for expansions.

I want to see what I will experience, not a dolled-up version of stuff I'll never actually see.

It's like the old toy commercials from the 60s and 70s that showed all kinds of fantastic play, utterly unachievable in actual real life.

I guess some things don't change all that much........

That may be a good thing........in the way George Lucas has removed himself from Star Wars responsibilities now. Lol

It could all use a breath of fresh air anyways.

Nice! Keeping track of this! Hoping for a nice successor/continuation to Alpha Centauri (still playing it tbh) & Civ (played up to Civ IV)

Well, this has certainly gotten the most positive comments I've ever seen from announcements of new games in OOPE.

Well to be fair Civ is a pretty well loved franchise.

I just hope people don't get hyped up over it, we all know what happens when there is too much hype about a game.

I always assumed Civ in Space and beyond earth was ALPHA CENTAURI ....

A new revamped Alpha Centauri, now THAT I WOULD GLADLY PAY TOP DOLLAH for!

I still remember reading the Quotes off it and enjoying therm, this one always made me crack up

Will wait and see. Over the past few years, the hype and pre-order fest, has created poor quality re-dos that have left much to be desired.

I am sort of looking forward to this, but at the moment my faith in Firaxis to produce a decent game is a little shakey.

Civ 5 is great, but it has needed two major content/rule change upgrades to make it the game it should have been when it first went on sale

X-Com Enemy Unknown/Within. OK, but neither are a patch on the original game. Very much X-Com lite

SM's Railroads. A pretty but terrible, shallow and flawed attempt to cash in on the old Microprose Railroad Tycoon.

I do hope that I am wrong, but will not start holding my breath, yet.
