Where to research?

Recently I bought some basic blueprints just to try a different part of EVE.

I was advised to research my blueprints ME to maximize profit.

For some reason every single ME slot in EVE seems to be unavailable, I must have checked 6 different regions and they were all occupied. what the hell?

What's the point of having that option if it only is available for a select few who (probably) systematically occupy every slot everywhere?

If you have any ideas of where I should go please do tell.

Your have four options:
1: Queue it in the 30+ day queue in High Sec
2: Hire someone else to do your research who has a High Sec POS
3: Join a research alliance and use the alliance research POSs
4: Set up your own POS

5. go to lowsec

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Back before I had a POS, I had good luck in low-sec in the Metropolis region. Queues 'back then' were from 7 to 14 days, typically. Annoying, but doable. No idea what they are now.

And no, it is not people 'systematically' using the slots to annoy you, it is lots of people like you (an me in the past) trying to get our ME up :).

Even the low sec queues I saw last night were 12+days. I managed to find a high sec one with only 16 but by the time I dropped 4 BPOs into it it was up to 25.

There are some high sec ones around with less than a month wait time, but unless you want to do options 1 through 5 you'll just need to be patient.

yeah, it depends where in low you go. I've seen some lowsec with queues ... and other lowsec with 50x wide open slots...

Grab yourself a shuttle and go looking, I used to be able to find plenty of slots with fairly low queue time (if any) at a very good price, and it wasn't deepest darkest low-sec either, 1 or 2 jumps max from 0.5, and that was caldari space.

Did many jumps in and out in shuttles/interceptors, blueprints are so small you don't need a big ship. If you've got expensive BPO's and are that worried, then just sit them in a queue and wait til they're done :)

Using a cov-opps is also an option for moving BPOs around in lowsec. Yes, there's a big risk in moving your 650 mil tier 3 BC BPO in a small ship. But it's not too bad. and you can mitigate it with appropriate bookmarks laid in in advance (quick warp ones from jump gates, for example)

Yup, Cov-Ops + dead end lo-sec is the way to go. Even if you need to go many jumps to different regions, set auto pilot to 'prefer safer' and then set to last hi-sec system and go bake a cake. Come back jump a few low sec system and then jump back to hi-sec, set the auto pilot and go ice your cake.

Obviously only do that if your bpo would NOT make you worth suicide ganking.

Eventually you may find an open slot or youll give up and just que it and live without it for a month or two.

On the other hand, you could contact me in game and ill be more than willing to help you out.

Seconded. Never AFK autopilot with BPOs in the hold. Especially not in something as fragile as a covops.

And if you want to stay in high-sec but skip the queues, see my sig.

I do research for others when I have the slots available.

In many cases I'll do the research free, largely depending on: whether I have to pay collateral or not, how long the research is going to take me, and how much the BPO are worth (if you can afford an expensive BPO, you can afford to pay).

I'm currently doing 12 BPO for someone, but about 5 of those will be done today, so send me an EVE-mail if you want to arrange for research (please set CSPA charge to 0 ISK).

Also check the Sell Orders forum for other people offering a research service, and in-game contracts and the blueprint channel for people selling researched BPO.

Some people will gank auto-piloting cov-ops for lols.
