Allow the Nestor to fit Covops Cloak as was originally intended

I found this interesting… so basically the null alliances killed any prospects for a Covert Ops cloak on the Nestor.

CSM: Ripard Teg, Chitsa Jason, Mangala Solaris, Progodlegend, Malcanis, Mynnna, Sala Cameron, Ali Aras, James Arget, Mike Azariah, Sort Dragon, Korvin, Trebor Daehdoow
Rise opened with a number of quick balance questions, and asked the CSM to vote on them by show of hands (all votes but one yes-no):
Should Nestor have covert cloak (no bridging) 1-10

Do the minutes record which culprits voted against?

Embers Children is recruiting carefully selected pilots who like wormholes, green killboards and the sweet taste of tears. You can convo me in game or join the chat "TOHA Lounge".

They do not. But it was 10:1 against the idea, and they list who was present...

The nestor to me always seemed to be a beefed-up version of a covert tug.

It can cloak while it's not needed - rep damage on buffer fit ships after/during fights.
Hold more ammo
Hold cyno fuel and act as a depot.

I am struggling with this.

If you're in lowsec, there's normally a station available for all of these things.

OK, a station is not mobile but moving a Nestor through a lowsec gate is just a game of Russian roulette. There's no upside and lots of downside.

In fact, an Orca would make a better depot since it has more storage space, can hold spare ships and is much cheaper.

Hell, a Rorqual would be a better option than a Nestor. At least it can get past gates without being blown to bits.

Then there's the carrier option - again avoids gates and can if needed bring 20,000dps of remote repair or 1000dps of drone damage, or non-triage capital reps AND 1000dps of drone damage... for less money.

With the exception of a highly contrived PVE spider affair (gated complexes?) there really is no role for the Nestor. It's an utter dog.

What a damn shame. The other two Sisters' ships are truly awesome.

Let's go over this in one hit.

I live in lowsec, in Khanid. I have to deal with 3 large enemy alliances right now whom function in a manner not dissimilar to nullsec entities in theory. A station won't work because they'll see you in it and camp it. GG.
Moving your nestor is only a matter of keeping it *behind* the body of your fleet.
Orca - dumb idea.
Rorqual - dumb idea. This isn't friendly space I am thinking of but a deployment in to enemy space.
Carriers already see use so let's get down to the nestor

It's a ship that shouldn't see front line action. That much is a definite. If it does get exposed to enemy fire as a battleship it's fairly sturdy and should be used to support its fleet mates. It doesn't need a covops cloak to achieve this. It doesn't need dps to achieve this. It can be used for a lot of stuff not the least of which is storing a number of mobile deployables etc etc.

The only contestant it has for all this is something like a Crane, but a crane doesn't get RR powers so.... you tell me.

I'm struggling to imagine how a non-covops nestor has a chance of avoiding immediate detection and destruction in the scenario you propose.

The moment you de-cloak it, the enemy has a chance to probe it down (very quickly).

Once you have done what logistics you need to do, you'll then want to move it. Otherwise the next time you use it, your enemies already have a bead on you. (like the way a sniper must move after each shot).

If you move it uncloaked you give away your new position. You'll be probed down in 1 cycle the next time you decloak it since you'll a savvy user of d-scan will already know roughly where you are.

If you move it cloaked, you're crawling and the next time you decloak you can expect to find yourself next to a recon ship.

In summary, without a cloak, this ship can expect to find itself very much in the action, rather than supporting the action.

CSM anti-covops-sentiment or no, this ship does not have a role without one - particularly as a mobile refitting platform.

Really is outright disgusting that CCP with the full knowledge of how the CSM vote is manipulated, allow a disproportionally small representation of the player base to dictate **** like that.

How about the developers grow some testicles and decide things like this instead, failing actually asking the real player base their opinion.

Honestly devs, is there any actual leadership at CCP. I used to get annoyed with Oveur but at least he had direction and a plan.

CCP Fozzie “We can see how much money people are making in nullsec and it is, a gigantic amount, a shit-ton… in null sec anomalies. “*
