this might be a pretty stupid question, regardless, i figured i would ask.

Expanded Cargoholds increase mass, but decrease velocity, does this mean it lowers my align time due to the lower top speed, or increase my align time due to the mass increase? Thanks in advance.

Ships max speed has nothin to do with the alignspeed, and as far as i know cargoholds dont increase ships mass.
If you mean the stuff in the cargoholds, that weighs nothing, cargo has no weight for simplicity.

ah ok. i just assumed it did sense webs can increase align time on freighters/orca's etc. so what your saying is a cargohold doesnt hurt or help align time?

expanded cargo holds reduce structure HP and max velocity. They have no effect on align etc

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.

Well the webbing trick works if the ship has already started its acceleration before you hit it with the webs, so it keeps its current speed but its max speed is reduced, shortening the needed align or making it instant if the current speed is already 75% if the current maximum.
If you hit with webs before ship has started to move it shouldnt affect the align at all really.
