how do these work?

..You write up a business plan detailing how you spend ISK to make profit, and what you would do with the loaned ISK, should your request be successful.

You must also offer anywhere between 2-27% interest to your investors, to be repaid at the completion of the terms, which should be two weeks to six months. Optional investment and interest rollover is a must.

Declare that you will in fact honor early requests for investors to withdraw their ISK, but you simply must insist on a 48 hour grace period to deliver upon such requests.

Keep in mind, your 'business plan' can either be genuine or completely fabricated. That is your choice.

One clause that is of the upmost importance when creating a loan request thread - the 'Hit by a Bus' procedures. You must state that busses do not run very often in your city, so the chances of that happening are very slim. Or you could show proof that you have hired an estate lawyer to handle your ISK and assets in probate, and the loaned ISK plus interest will be passed out in a timely matter by a professional.

At this point there will be a few pilots who will post in your thread using different variations of these sentences:

"Lol X billion uncollateralized station trading loan. Nice posting history. *grabs popcorn*"

"I might be interested, can I look at your API?"

"SCAM"

"7% interest, 4 month old pilot, no posting history, I'll pass"

"Nice rep grinding OP."

And if he was still around, a rather disheveled looking fellow by the name of Jerry Pepperidge might even pledge several billions of ISK to you. Of course, a few posts later he would go on a tirade against VV and smugly proclaim to know that 66% of all currently active loans on MD were social engineering scams. Nice fellow, wish he'd come back.

Now at this stage in the game, you can choose several different ways to continue:

Reply with thoughtful answers about your business plan.

Ignore all incriminating questions.

Go on at length about how much you cherish Eve and the community, and would never run off with the loaned ISK. You have morals, dammit.

Or, my personal favorite, rage against the critics who posted in your thread. Name calling and insults are a must. You should continue this rage induced posting for a minimum of two days. And then you simply vanish from MD forever, indignant for the world to see.

Don't worry too much about how closely you follow this guide, because it really doesn't matter. You're not getting the ISK. Haha, you will never get the ISK. But don't let this discourage you, in fact I advise that you do make your loan thread. It tosses a few bones for the trolls of MD to gnaw on.
