EVE Online: Rubicon 1.3 has been successfully deployed on March 12, 2014.

With this release we started a ship skin pilot project, EVE graphics got improved (asteroids are now displayed with the modern V3 shaders linear lightning on ships implemented etc.), lots of "LittleThings" were introduced, drone assist mechanic got capped at 50 drones and a lot more.

General feedback about EVE Online: Rubicon 1.3 can be posted in the general feedback thread here.

Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:

  • Description of problem, the more verbal the better
  • Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
  • OS version
  • Step by step guide to what causes the issue
  • Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

Description:

When I open the EVE client it says I need to download the new patch. I hit download and it says the patch is corrupted and asks if I want to download again. Tried multiple times, still corrupted. I also had the "file damaged move to trash" error when I initially downloaded the client, but I fixed that my changing the security settings (not sure if there's a connection).

I've had this before. Stop and restart the Eve Launcher. You should then see that the correct patch is uploading. In this case, it is 1.29 GB. So be prepared to wait a little. Big smile

Force field effects are missing from station undock points and from ship hulls (drone bays on e.g. Algos, Megathron, Archon, Nestor, etc.)

I've had so many launcher issues like this since I moved back to a Mac, I just run the EVE Online Repair application before I launch EVE now.

The launcher issue after I restart ....Eve launch just fine.

But it seemed I have another bug. Nothing big.

Before the patch when I turn on the Adaptive Invulnerability Field.. the ship has that blue glow. Now.. nothing.

could be a cross problem with the graphic card.

Macbook Pro 15" Retina
2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
16 Gb 1600 Mhz DDR3
Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB
OSX 10.8.5

Other than this... i don't have any problem at all.

EDIT: 2014.03.14 20:45

I got the blue glow back :D yay .... which is the funny part... if i go back to the previous system... the glow is gone again.. if i jump to the next system.. glow is back on.

Ok, so i can't seem to download this patch successfully. I got to about 50% the first time and it stopped. Started over, made it to 25%. Rebooted my network and started over, same thing. Finally, I noticed that the connection speed keeps dropping and dropping to almost zero as this is happening. Rebooted network again, ran eve repair tool, and it, too, drops to almost zero connection speed after a awhile. Speedtests to other locations are ok, other internet working, no one seems to be pirating my link.

Seems like an EVE issue to me. What gives?

Opening fitting window causes lock up.

I had this problem in the last rev but it only happened about 40-50% of the time and more with certain ships (Thrasher especially)...Now when I go to open the fitting window, while docked with any ship the game locks and MacBook freezes.
Hard reboot is only solution.

I used the online repair tool after the patch and it allowed me to change ammo in space, which the new patch didn't do (lock up), but I am still not able to open fitting window while docked.

Work around is to re-load ammunition in space instead of while docked...no ship changes otherwise

Previously If I needed to change load out I would take a chance that it would lock up...sometimes yes...sometimes no.

So in addition to the force field effect I mentioned above (still unresolved), the flashing lights on the Police Pursuit Comet are also broken.

Hi there!

since yesterdays Rubicon 1.3.4 Patch I'm having weird Screenbugs.. Earlier this morning my screen completely went black, I couldn't get out the Game or switch to Desktop nothing worked (System did not freezed since Teamspeak worked just fine in background but couldn't switch out the game to desktop...) I had to cold restart the system. I thought well things happen sometimes so no big deal.

Now after I just logged in and docked at station I have not the same issue but similar, still things went black no inside Station textures. see here

I never had this in previous versions so it must be Patch related

I'm having numerous problems. Mac client is absolutely terrible.

Hardware Info:
Version 10.9.2; Build 13C64
Macbook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, Standard High End Option (2.3 i7/16g ram / GT 750M).

Problem 1:

Description: EVE client fails to display at all when using "Most Space" scaled option in Display settings. Sound will work. Requires a force-quit to exit.

Steps to reproduce: Set display resolution Scaled, choose the rightmost option "More Space." Launch EVE Client.

Workaround: Change resolution back to "Best for display" every time one wishes to play EVE, or, having successfully entered EVE, choosing windowed mode, which will allow starting the game in the "Most Space" scaled resolution setting.

Problem 2:

Description: Certain resolutions won't display the whole game screen when full screened.

Steps to reproduce: Go to settings inside client, and choose various resolutions (for example, 1920x1200). Apply.

Workarounds: Choose another resolution.

I've had numerous other problems, but they seemed to have disappeared (for now).

Crashes on a daily basis since 1.3 - it just freezes. If I force quit it and restart launcher, it the client never appear. Reboot needed.

I have uninstaled completely, cleaned up disk and re-downloaded. Same.

Description:

Client freezes up, I can still move the mouse cursor for the first ~30 seconds of the freeze, but cannot minimise Eve, and before long I can't move the mouse cursor either and the only way to turn off my computer is to force a shutdown. Freeze typically occurs within 30 minutes of starting the client, although I have had sessions up to a couple hours. For the past day or so it has been freezing within a couple minutes, I've even had problems being able to log in and update my skill queue before the client freezes.

MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012
2.5 Ghz Intel Core i5
8GB 1600MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024MB
OSX 10.9.2

Side note: Just started playing a week ago, and despite the issues I've run into with the game frequently freezing, I keep coming back to it - you guys have made an incredible game, thank you!

EVE Client somehow disables screensaver and active corners with screensaver-related functions.

Version: OS X 10.9.2 (13C64).
MacBook Pro 13" Retina Late 2013. Intel i7 2.8GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel Iris Graphics.

Steps to reproduce (timed screensaver):
Set automatic screensaver timer.
Launch EVE launcher, login and start the game.
Quit EVE client using Esc->Quit.
Close EVE Launcher.
Wait screensaver timer without touching keyboard or mouse.

Steps to reproduce (active corners):
Go to Preferences -> Mission Control -> Active Corners.
Set "Enable screensaver" for any of available active corners.
Launch EVE Launcher, login and start the game.
Quit EVE client using Esc->Quit.
Close EVE Launcher.
Move mouse pointer to corner with "Enable screensaver" set.

Expected result (both cases): screensaver starts Mac is locked and password is required to access anything.

Observed result (both cases): screensaver doesn't turn on, Mac is not locked and available for anyone to use the system.

Workaround: run screensaver manually, by either unsetting, then re-setting active corner and moving mouse to defined corner or using screensaver preview. After launching screensaver manually everything works as intended.

I've had two persistent issues:

1) Screen locks up...primarily in stations....but a few times mining and warping. No lockups in combat so far...praise the binary gods. It appears the system over heats after some processor spike. I've seen Cider chewing up excessive processor as the temp rises....assume cause and effect here. The only resolution is to Force Quit Eve Online.

I run in Window mode as that initially reduced the heat vs running full screen. The crashes were fewer and farther between but seem to be occurring in shorter intervals now.

With my incoming air at 68F and normal processing temp of 99F, launching the app and sitting in a station sees the temp increase very rapidly to 116 - 120F. I have left the computer with the app running, sitting in a station, only to return and find the app locked (requiring Force Quit) and the temp at 130F - 136F. Minimizing the application generally removes the stress on the system and the temp drops.

Specific temps around the last incident:
GPU Die = 194F
GPU Heatsink = 173F
CPU Core 1 & 2 hit 138F, others are lower
PCH Die 149F
Power Primary Heatsink = 126F
Power Secondary Heatsink = 163F

I have been using the default display settings for the application.

The launcher app has still been running while playing, but when the main app is closed there is no Cider activity.

Eve is the only application I have used on my iMac that has locked up like this or generated this much heat. I also run Lightroom, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X & Cubase (not all at the same time) and none of these applications produce this much heat.

I run Eve with only iMessage & Safari open. I have had Safari closed before and Eve still over heats.

Anyone experiencing these types of screen locks in full screen mode may thing the entire computer is unresponsive. I thought so at first, but you can press a key (ESC or COMMAND-Q I think) and then get access to Force Quit Eve. Been running Windowed mode too long to remember how to get out of the stuck full screen.

2) Occasionally in combat the screen will be slit with a line down the center and the right side is almost all white and the left side is normal. I think it is related to some object exploding, like a tower or bunker or something. The white side eventually goes away, but while it is there you can't really see anything on half of the screen.

My system:
Mid 2011 iMac 27", 3.4 Core i7, 12 GB 1333 DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB. Application is installed on 256GB Flash Drive.
OSX 10.9.2

I love this game! I don't love the excessive heat when just sitting in a station. I obviously am no fan of Force Quitting.

I am also having the lock up/over heating issue. EVE freezes up several times a day, requiring a Force Quit of Eve. The EVE Launcher seems unaffected. This occurs while docked, while mining, while AFK with no user activity, etc.
