Doomsday is after all the most powerful weapon a titan has. Sure the guns put out more DPS but you kill supercapitals best with overwhelming alpha strikes, and doomsday is the only way to get enough damage to consistently alpha titans and supers without spamming tons of Naglfars.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I'm wondering about Terran or Jovian superweapons.... I haven't read the novels or know about them. The Terran one is seen in this trailer.

What would the consequences be if an ancient Terran or a Jovian superweapon introduced ingame? Say technically in-game the weapon is a one-time use only, and components would be extracted from Ghost/Sleeper sites, ultra rare resources scattered in/out WH space.

what do you guys think if this would happen... good/bad? Arms race? kill fleet blobs and pos faster? aggressive expansion & hunt for new resource and tech? kill EVE?

That's in the novel Empyrean Age. A good read.

Once in the days of yor the DD was an AOE weapon.

But... as expected with the usual MMO neckbeardery, there was a thing called "Drive-by DD" meaning it didn't matter so much what was going on, someone would just show up and DD the grid for the lols.

So, being abused, changes were made and now the DD is more like the ray from the Death Star.

Maybe if the player base was more mature the AOE DD could come back. Would certainly make things interesting.

Haha man this is a really bad post. Like wow. REALLY bad.

I attempted to calculate the chances of the EVE community becoming mature enough to use AOE DD's wisely, but every attempt returned the IEEE floating point value NaN.

Wasn't the problem exactly that people used it maturely and wisely? Therefore they made the best possible use out of it in a competitive environment like proper adults, instead of holding back their true potential because of some meaningless and naive space bushido.

I think is pretty mature to drop a bunch of Titans in a random fight and kill everybody. Bit disappointing for those involved other than the titanpilots, but..... FUN

I'd do it in a heartbeat and laugh about it for an hour. Which is why it happened and CCP was kinda forced to take care of it when the number of Titans rose.

What I dislike is Doomsday in general. I love it when some Titanpilot goes all out and ganks a cap. Bad day for the cappilot, but we're dealing with a guy that risks 100+ bill ISK. Gotta respect that.
But when 70 titans are on field, they'll take out 70 dreads every 10 minutes. It makes sense based on both the time it requires to get into one and the cost of a Titan. But... yeah. I personally consider it to be too much.

mature person uses his tools to get the most profit

when using of something leads to its removing it's not as mature.

Not sure if you were there when the old DD was around but it was a completely broken mechanic. They had a 1h cooldown, and with the 3-5 titans we had we could kill the enemy fleet attacking us every 12-15 minutes. I don't think you really understand how game breaking it us when sub capital fleets can get wiped of the grid every 12-15 minutes.

Although, the 250 killmails you got all at once were kind of comedy. :D

Only if there's a high probability (through ignorance of the technologies involved)
that the device explodes in the hands of the discoverer(s).

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

It was pretty crazy though. ;) In one of the earliest DD's being used in the game, just over 300 goons blew up due to that one shot.

I think that was when CCP looked at the DD's and wondered if they may have made a mistake. :P

Video of the first one being used. I can't find the vid for the one I mentioned above, but am still looking. Have seen it before so I know its still up there.

Anyhow, this vid documents the DD fired by LV that killed 67 battleships, 12 heavy assault ships, 14 battlecruisers, 71 cruisers, 5 assault ships, 2 interdictors, 11 destroyers, 19 interceptors, 4 covert ops ships, and 14 frigates.

This nostalgia of old school DD is gone, and aye that is not coming back. Can you guys think harder about this subject?
