Ways to tell if someone is botting?

Author

I have a feeling that a member of my corp is mining botting.

We have bumped him out of mining range and 5 minutes later he started mining another asteroid.

Is their any other way to see if he is botting?

Since this is technically a crime/against the rules, i thought this would belong here.

Blow up his mining vessel

If his pod continues to warp back and forth, cleanse liberally, sprinkle with petitions

If they are a corp member, warp scramble them when their current asteroid gets low and watch their response. Don't shoot them at all, just scram them. (You can do this in highsec). FRAPS the whole thing.

An at keyboard player will start swearing at you (or if they are really new, ask "Why can't I warp?"). Drop them to 30% structure, then let them go.

An EULA-compliant AFKer will complete mining the current asteroid, then sit there. (You should then pop them when they return to keyboard).

A botter will lock up other asteroids and continue mining.

In addition, report anything sus to CCP via the 'Report Bot' option, but get your own evidence too.

Destroy the ship. No seriously, most bots will keep warping the pod in and out of the belt because they get stuck in a loop.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

on this one. Blow him up and see how long it takes for him to complain. Under 15min and maybe he was mining AFK. More than 15min and he is botting and should be reported. Either way, offer to sell him a permit. Only 10mil isk and good for a whole year assuming he keeps to the Code.

If you bump them 30km away from the belt and they don't ***** you out in local, they're a bot.

Terminate (pun intended) with extreme prejudice.

Not seeing the issue. You should be regularly killing and podding miners anyway. What's wrong with you?

Pod a miner once, you remove a blight from space for a day.

Get one banned for botting, you remove them from space forever.

Only by knowing how bots behave due to program limitation can you see.

However you can always sit on the side of those that say mining in itself is botting and blow him up anyway... you know... Just in case.

Shoot first, ask questions later. Concord won't interfere in highsec if he's in corp.

Why the hell would you shoot your own corpmate? How about not being a rat snitch and just mind your own damn business?

Why wouldn't you shoot your own corpmate? Because you can is as valid a reason as any, because he might be a bot is an even better one.

Why haven't you kicked him out? Sounds like he's a tool of a corpmate. What does he bring to the corp?

I'd say dampen the hell out of him so his rocks are out of range and see if he asks questions or if the ship just moves closer. I don't know the mechanics of bots, but my guess is they'll just move to anything in range. A human would start asking why he can't target anything beyond 5km.

But since he's such a joy to be around I'd just blow his ship up. Worst case scenario is he's just afk and you buy him a new one. Then kick him out for not being a team player and actually talking to his corpmates.

IDK we are selective when recruiting, and I just naturally assumed most corps were similar. I was just raised in a kind of environment where you don't snitch on your family/crew, no matter how heinous an act they commit.

That logic is how you survive on the street, not in the world. At some point you grow up and become a member of society. This however is a game, and cheaters make it less enjoyable for everyone. So have fun and blow that miner to bits.

Hehehe I knew these kinds of posts would follow, and yes, I was 'in' a few years ago ;)

But, I now have a solid career, a house, kids, wife, and all that good stuff. I do, however, teach my kids that if ever they get bullied, cold-**** the bully right in the face, then they will know not to **** with you, rather than go cry to the nearest teacher. It may not be the recommended approach, but I don't really care, I think its the right one.

Naw, I did the crime, so I had to do the time. I just kept my mouth shut, enjoyed my 2 hots and a cot, gained 35 pounds from being on the couch, and came back to a nice bank account. Really not much more to say.
