LOOPING SOUNDS DRIVING ME INSANE!

Every single time I start EVE I get a looping sound that does not go away unless I restart my entire computer. This is rendering EVE unplayable, as well as inconveniencing me greatly because I have to restart my system to get rid of it. Closing the EVE instance does not help, there is nothing on my task manager indicating EVE is still running either.

Issue only started since Crucible came out, and happens every single time I log in. I cannot log in anymore, because this issue (which is blaring out of my computer as I type this) is making it impossible to even think straight.

You have somehow managed to find the one sound to loop that produces pure rage in the human brain I think.


Specs: Asus Xonar DG sound card

The rest: Who cares, I know its crucible and nothing else. Only happens in EVE, blah blah blah etc. Fix this or I'm seriously to the point of desubbing.

Yes, it is that annoying of a sound loop. Yes, it happens any time I launch EVE, or god forbid I quit EVE.

I have that same card, but my sound loops when I quit the game. Now I also have a Logitech G35 headset, when I set that as the default sound source, eve quits without any sound loops.

Same Problem here, also have the Asus Xonar DG.
Have Problem only when i close a client that has sound enabled in the client (ingame Settings).

Deactivating and re-activating the whole soundcard in the Device Manager (Windows 7 Pro 64bit) fixes it for me but jsut a work-around no solution if i want to keep on playing with sounds.

Also doubt that it's very healthy for my soundcard if i've to do this too offen.

Asus Xonar drivers are famous for being bad, but this started with the new expansion, so I guess changes in Eve are partial reason.

I'm having the same issue. Asus Xonar D2, Win7 x64.

The workaround for me is as posted above, disable and re-enable the card in Device Manager.

For me the best workaround is to disable GX mode in Asus driver control panel. What is GX mode anyway? Isn't it some kind of half-baked EAX emulation?

To clarify:

I am running the EVE client through steam

Also, the loop happens every time I quit the game, the reason I thought it did it when I launched the client too was because of the updates, which restarted the client before I had my headset on.

Pretty sure this is isolated to ASUS sound card issues. It is extremely annoying though, and did not happen before Crucible.

I'm also getting this, whenever EvE closes lopping sound sticks.
Using Asus Xonar DS are these sound cards or drivers that bad?
Should I concider returning the card and get something else?

You don't have to restart computer go to control panel>sounds>chose the device>properties>again properties>driver and disable and enable again but don't have eve open while you do this because then it prompts to restart computer.
Doesn't do that with any other program so I think it has to do with the code in eve.

But still I would like to know if I should return my card.

This is a known issue with the Asus Xonar Soundcards, and looking around the net it, the symptom of this looping sound seemingly is not quite limited to EVE. The workaround for this seems to be to go to the Asus Control Panel and disable the "GX" mode (as mentioned in the link provided by Kaivaja earlier)

Having issues with the Salvager sound being looped after it is deactivated. Also hearing belt rats comm chatter well after I am docked and such. This is on an old X-Fi card.

Not only are the looping sounds just stupid, they can only be controlled by the master volume control. This means that to silence the modeule counds, you have to silence all sound in the game. It's screwed up and I don't like it at all.

I am further disappointed at the continued poor quality control, the 1K Paper cuts philosophy. Station window positions don't get remembered any more, the module cool down graphic has been out of sync with reality ever since they were created, drones assuming you are kidding when you say "focus fire". PI used to be a semi-relaxing way of entering lo sec and making a meager income; not any more. The list goes on virtually forever.

It seems to me that if they cannot properly program window generation and game sounds, there is bound to be bigger things broken in the back end code that we can't see at all. I don't know of any other surviving sub+pay2play game that is this bad. CCP sets a new industry standard for garbage game mechanics. And I continually ask myself why I put up with it.

SWTOR comes out today I think ... Going to check links now.

Confirming that a bad quality sound card issue that affects multiple games besides EVE online is CCP's fault.

I've had some looping recently after running a mission; I had to turn off the audio in the control panel and turn it back on; this is not the same problem most of the posts are about,;however, in case someone comes looking...

Yeah I have an issue with this too with my Xonar DG, I guess i'll have to disable GX.

Kinda funny cause it gets louder with each client you close, I closed 4 clients at once before and it got pretty damn loud.
