OK worst loss for me, was my first Scorpion that I lost after mining for ages... this was back when a Scorpion was wrath a lot and nothing T2 was available in game as it was 2003 (Late on Sept or so in I remember) and Scorp BPO's had not long been available
...

Sad thing was I'd made my first run though into Amarrian space and shot someone in a 0.6.. gate guns tore through me Lol

Oh and I had dual Tachyons fitted, as they were the best fit at the time Blink

Not big but losing my first, well researched, tractor beam bpo hurt a lot. Everything else has been easily & quickly replaced. Still haven't fully replaced that bpo.

Mine was an Ishkur loss to Concord that I totally deserved.

Was roaming through a part of lowsec that I wasn't familiar with and jumped a gate into a new system.

After scanning I spotted a retriever at a belt so warped in and targetted. He didn't move and was clearly AFK. Not a great thing to do in lowsec, so I opened fire and started burning him down.

Then Concord spawned. WTF?

Oops, the system was 0.5, not lowsec at all and I didn't realise until I saw Concord and then glanced at the top left of screen.

Having not ganked anyone in highsec at the time, I wasn't about the start, so I switched off my guns and took my Concordekken punishment before warping to station to wait out my criminal timer.

Was a good lesson though.

My worst loss ever was after two weeks mining in a venture. I saved enough money, got a great deal on a retriever which sat in my hangar for a week while I got the skills for mining barges.

Took it out for some mining late that night (Mining Barge 1 just finished)

Mine a bit, nod off.

Destroyed by two suicide gankers less than an hour after getting it.

I've flown only procs since then.

Back in the day, circa 2006, I was the lone carebear in a combat corp. Character was horrible, didn't specialize.
I liked combat, but my computer was horrible, and would lag to hell during a fight.
Tried my best to support, mostly via frigates and ewar, but I was always the first out to go.
Coupled with my tendency to die, I had trouble following orders due to the language barrier.

Eventually I got fired. That was my biggest loss. I took it down hard. I quit the game that very night, giving away my vigilant. It took me at least 6 years to come back. I still feel the pain. Watching a community slowly die is something. Being told by your friends they don't want to play with you anymore, that, I'll never wish on anyone.

Exploring low sec in a drake and telling two gate campers to get stuffed after they destroyed my drake and then demanded 50 mill ransom or they pod me........which was a bad mistake as i forgot to use my pvp clone and was in my clone with all +4/5 implants and such........facepalm moment when I realized!

You deprived them of 50 mill ... and they almost certainly would have podded you anyway. Sure the occasional "honest" ganker that stick to a ransom deal may exist but I have not come across it. you made the correct choice.

My silliest was recently in losec deciding to turn back and taking on a cerebus and 'nado in a gatecamp I had snuck through with a firetail because I was bored at the time :D Did not even get a shot off.

*TL;DR hobbles in on his walker and pulls up a chair*

Greetings noobins, and eve children, let good old uncle reaper tell you about his worst lost isk wise, and his worst loss... ah.. noob tears wise.

Some mild back ground. I am on my 10 year of eve, so that will tell ya something.

6 years ago, give or take a few months, my then alliance was holding the area of Providence known as the 'Kari Pipe' This was right after UK lost the area and CVA was gobbling it up. Anyway, my alliance was in a war with a group called ENH (i can;t spell the corp name) We suffered heavy loses but meh. So i had just bought a new carrier, a thany. My very first one. I spent pretty much every isk i had on it, and i fitted it uber fail. As i said i was broke. I was sitting in.. D-6 i think and was ratting. Stupid me did not have any normal drones, just fighters. An npc frig warp scrambled me, and i was like 'ok np. i'll kill this bs them kill it' The NPC BS pops and i sick my fighters on the frig... 2... 5...9 min later nothing, the fighters keep missing it. Crap i think. So i send a small ping out to alliance asking for assitance, and get a reply form a dude in jita. I hit up corp, no one is near. So i'm about to log in my alt, to come kill the frig when a red star enters system. "**** me!" is my thought. But i go, maybe he will move on... he quickly warps to me ratting, and i think crap. He sits there for a second and just looks, and i go 'hey um.. a little help maybe?" he replies "whats the issue? cna;t kill the frig?" and i go "yup" he goes "oh.. sucks to be you" targets me and starts firing. 1 min later local fills with red stars, and for the first, only, and last time, i begged in local and shead MANY carebear tears for them to spare me. They didn't. Pop. So they go 'we will let the pod go for xxx' and ofc i'm broke so tell them just to kill me. Pop! End of story and down 2b isk.

This one was on the news, so you can look it up, no i'm not gonna link it. In 2010, i saved up money again, and sold a lot of crap i had lying around. I bought my dream ship, a fully fit Nyx! We were living in wicked creek at the time, and i was happily ratting and shooting random structures in the area. Well one day, one of my alliance mates gets this brillant idea to go gate camp (not the brillant part..) and ask me if i want to bring the nyx cause it will be leet. Me being in an odd mood go, sure what the hell. Sit a gate, small group comes in, i attack... they get pas my buds and burn towards me. I donlt remember if they have a dictor, or i just paniced for a second, but befor ei know it a bubble goes up and i can;t run. Local fills up with guys, all sub caps (system was cyno jammed) and they proced to bound on me. There three guardians are keeping my drones, fighters, and bombers form doing anything. My guys that ar eon keep doing bombing runs to try and pop bubbles so i can run. The thought crosses my mind to log off as i'm dead anyway and maybe i'll get lucky, but i shove that aside. So i'm chilling, trying to cordinate a freedom, utalizing fighters etc, when i hear one of my alliances russian guys jump on TS. Hes asking if i need help, and i go 'yea' his next words.. "ok, i'm warping my mom to you" oh **** me... i quickly scream no stop warp do not come, hostile do not... and second mom lands on grid. I'm ignored for a min as i'm not really going anywhere, and try to get closer. They lock him down and start pounding him. Now i have been holding my tank for 12 min at this point (log off MIGHT of saved me) i locked the russians mom and watch his tank MELT in a matter of 5 min. (if you look this up, he wa snot fit very well and i think he paniced) being russian, there was a language issue and i coudl not cordinate with him to attack x. So i watch him pop. and then wait the next 10 min for me to pop. So i lose 20b, the alliance has a whole loses 40. Then we get scammed a week later out of 25b. nice huh?

Moral of the story, my long time eve buddies have FORBIDDEN me form EVER flying titan. Cause i'll lose it in an hour lol.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

My worst loss, and also the most frustrating one, was my mission Navy Domi.

I was playing Eve full-screen on a laptop with windows 8 with a cordless mouse.

When suddenly the mouse died. I was in the early stage of the mission.
My armor tank was working.
My drones were on aggressive and cheerfully chipping a way at the enemy.
You always read about people complaining about AFK mission drone boats.
And I wasn't even AFK. I was still at the keyboard.
So nothing to get overly conserned about.

But I noticed quickly that I didn't know all the keyboard-commands by heart since I relied for certain things always on the mouse.
So I decided quickly to change the batteries in my mouse.
Unfortunately this one seemed to be designed by someone who has never had to replace a battery in his life.
The stupid thing just wouldn't open.

In the mean time my drones were now killing the trigger for the next wave.

So more drastic measures where required : I took out the USB that regulates the connection with the mouse, so I would fall back on the Touchpad of the laptop. Well...that didn't work. The stupid mouse pointer just froze on the screen.

And surprise, surprise : the drones were going for the next trigger without killing the rest first.
The situation got a bit more serious.

So I quickly dived into a stack of old computer material in another room to get a mouse with cord.
I plugged it in and....

Windows 8 found it necessary to completely minimize all programs and give me a pop-up about the mouse.
Seems plug-and-play ain't what it used to be.

I then came to the conclusion that I did even know less about the keyboard-commands in Windows 8 then I did in Eve.
I couldn't get Eve back to the front.
Some heavy cursing on Microsoft for removing the taskbar/start-menu was done.
In the background I still heard the sounds of Eve....and those 'beep' thingies weren't very reassuring.

To end this long story : when I got back to Eve, my domi was a pile of scrapmetal.

But to end on a positive note : 10 minutes later I did get my mouse open.

Errrrr are we talking about how much you lost after reimbursement?

If so then probably like a bunch of crappy cruisers and what not... no wait there was that Pulse Apoc in 2008 that I only got 50% SRP on since it was a snowflake fit.

Dual logged and decently fit titans in B-R5RB?

300 bn in one fight + pods was a bit much even for me. Big smile

The Aeon moonwalked out at least so didn't get purged from relevant channels.

Luckily the PL reimbursement side is without equal. Twisted

PS: Still hold the 2nd and 3rd most expensive titan losses in Eve..... vaguely mad so rather proud of it. Blink

My Apocalypse Navy Issue.

I've not actually lost it, but its now in such an unuseable state that I rarely take it out anymore.

When I started playing (many many moons ago) I did lose an Abaddon to a Blood Raider Frigate.. I just about threw my screen out of the window.

I've had a few memorable ones.

The first one was a Machariel. I was a hard noob, and I could barely fit the ship properly. I had lame T2 shield tank, but hey T2 emirite? I was running Worlds Collide, that lv 4 mission that pairs you against serpentis and guristas (In gallente space anyway). I was fit for serpentis, so naturally I went and did that side first. Once I finished, I went on to do the Guristas side, without refitting because YOLO, I've got this. I was dicking about, when I realized I had left my booster running for too long, and was almost out of cap. I turned it off, and waited for some cap to regenerate as my shields took the blows.

I didn't realized that I had left a scrambling frigate alive, and was thus, scrambled. This is well before you got notifications above your shield readout, when they only came up on the overview list. After a bit, I realized that I was not going to make it, so I tried to warp, but the ship didn't move. I tried again a few times, and nothing happened. It was then when I started to panic. I unlocked all of my targets, identified the scrambler, and locked him. I assigned whatever drones I had out at the time, which happened to be medium drones, and waited. By now I'm in low armor. I boosted some shields back, but the DPS was too stronk! I eventually died well before my drones could kill the scrambling ship.

Fast forward a few months, and now you have me running an incursion. I am once again on a machariel. We land on an accel gate, and the FC said "Ok, activate the wait nvm, warp to broadcast". Because I was eager to get my isk fix, I was pre-aligned, and as soon as I heard FC said "Activate" I did. So I went in there, and I screamed right away "I activated, don't warp off" to which the FC said "Log out, we'll try to come back". They didn't, and my ship died.

Forward a few months, and I am now part of a null alliance. I have this sweet DED loki, and there I am, running anoms on our staging system. I figured "There is 100 blues here, what can possibly go wrong?". I'm tanking it pretty well, but suddenly my tank starts to break. I start looking for scramblers, and I find one. A cynabal. A blinking red cynabal. You can see how that ended.

Again in Null, but this time with a Tengu. We had a cloaky camper, and we thought we had figured out his active times. I was on his supposedly inactive time, running a few anoms, when he uncloaked next to me, pointed me, lit a cyno, and 2 redeemers dropped on grid. Before I could say "Oi, 2 redeemers here come kill em" I was teabagged and stored away in a fresh clone.

The most recent one, this time in a C6 WH. We had a good number of anoms in home, but no one had fleeted up to run them. I figured me and a multiboxing carrier could do it. I was in a Revelation, one guy was dual boxing a pair of carriers, and we managed to enlist 2 lokis for webs. We started the first site, and we were actually doing fine. Webs were working, targets were dying. For this site, the next wave trigger were the frigates. One of the Lokis decided that controlling his drones was too much to ask for, so he let them do whatever, and ended up popping the trigger. We ended up losing one carrier, both Lokis and my Revelation.

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165
