Actually, no. It used to be a Maulus and it looked great that way with the v-shaped antenna on top. It was my favorite looking ship back in the day.

Early on, I found 1 in an abandoned POS out in Cloud Ring. It was also one of the coolest ships I had seen, but I couldn't fly it out yet. By the time I trained for it, it was gone. And when I looked to buy one, they had changed the hull.

I'm putting the change at somewhere late '06 to mid '07. Best Guess.

The old Helios was based on the Maulus and had a green design going, it looked amazing. Then they had to "normalise" ships and bonuses (probably with EAS in mind) and realised that the Maulus hull would become the Keres and that for the Helios they should use the imicus hull instead.

To this day this makes me rage more than the loss of the Space police Comet, before they decided to let it back in.

Trinity, with the introduction of EAFs and the Magnate as a mass produced hull. So December 2007.

For the record, it looked like this.

The Imicus and Helios will get a redesign that will probably be less wonky. Hopefully by the summer expansion or shortly afterward. So hold your horses. Maybe you will like the redesign.
