I am having an issue with the launcher through steam. This is the third time it has happened and I am not sure what is going on. The last three times I had to reinstall to fix but now two installs later it is still broken. What happens is the launcher starts and instead of transitioning to the play button I get a transparent overlay across half the launcher. Seems the standard launcher does not do this. Is there a way to fix this or at least login to my account without steam so I can get a new skill on. This is causing me to lose training time.

Update... After three days of messing with this I finally got everything working again. I understand my OP was not really concise on what I tried so I apologize so here is the steps I took to fix it just in case anyone else hits this dumb road block. Keep in mind my original post was after steps 1 - 4 were completed as I wanted to make sure I went through everything in the faq's before posting. The final step is what I did after I got home from work today.


1. Step One Clear your cache through the launcher. (This might work for me it did not so on to step 2)
2. Step Two Clear your cache through the explorer. If you installed steam in program files x86 the directory is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Eve Online\launcher\cache (This initial did not work for me either)

At this point I am in a rage

3. Uninstall the client and reinstall. (This did not work for me either)
4. Repeat step 1 - 3. If this does not work it is time wait for it....

BatPhone PL or someone and BLAP your PC. (Not litterally back up your important data and initiate OS Termination Sequence)

After doing this and reinstalling Eve it worked.

Seriously due to the account being from steam the only way I could log in is through the launcher. This is serious as I could not find any other way to log in so I think the launcher should work properly. Or at least you would hope it would.

This is the 3rd time it happened to me in the last 20 days or so. The first two were fixed by the reinstall this time I had to reinstall everything on my pc to get it to work seems a bit excessive. Wish I could give more information to find out what the problem is hopefully it will be fixed in the future or hopefully it won't happen again to me.
