So, Incursion Runners...

Does anyone go out and gank incursion runners? I have never been in an incursion fleet but I feel like all of those ridiculously pimped out ships all on one grid would be too much to say no too. But I've never really heard of anyone ganking incursion fleets.

So anyone have stories of a good gank? Or a reason as to why nobody does it? I know smartbombing battleships would be expensive but the possible loot would be nice.

They usually get ganked on gates. Way easier than trying to get the loot out of a site with a fleet and npc rats inside.
Gankers want easy kills - if they wanted a challenge they wouldn't gank.

You would need A LOT of smartbombs to kill an incursion battleship. They usually have 100k+ EHP.

It happens on stations and gates.

Kill the logi, and the rest of the fleet dies.

sometimes a ganking fleet forms up, everyone docks up or switches to rokhs, and a weekend later its all in the past.

there's no regular ganking of incursion ships, sadly.

Yes and no. Some people run around preloading sites in the hope someone died through the game mechanics then swoop in and scoop loot.

As a Incursion runner myself I have always wondered why people don't gank us. I know of 2 people officer fit, and the rest at 4b+ in most communitys.

Don't come and gank us, but on the flip side please do as its all part of the game and it would help keep certain people in their place

fixed

Good luck getting into range of the logis before the fleet evacuates - they won't sit at the warp-in spot. (Yes, I've seen people actually try that - no it didn't work)

Never done it because I always figured the fleet AWOXers wouldnt like someone muscling in on their patch

i have only ever seen a gank on a fleet member once in all the times i have done incursions, it was actually at a planet while reforming a fleet a bunch of talo's warped in under some mercenary contract to kill a specific fleet members ship, they did it, died to concord, fleet carried on a short time later.

Most incursion losses to ganks happen during transit between new spawns as a lone ship is very vulnerable yeta fleet of 40 pilots actively controlling thier ships is extremely tough to take on. Maybe if you send in like 60 gank ships to overwhelm the fleet? not really worth it then

Also, taking a fleet in a site is never going to work, the moment you start pumping out the kind of ewar demanded to shut down a fleet, sansha decide YOU are delicious looking and your ship with its all gank no tank is dead in 1 volley

I would imagine it would be quite hard to do cause they allways have logi support and buffer tank. Both in combination= hard to gank. Well you would need to throw alot of money into the gank ship to be aible to do something.

Tbh Incursions should be moved to low-sec.

Profits are insane for high-sec safety. Makes sense from a fluff perspective too.
Not to mention imagine the meta involved in high-sec making deals with low-sec pirates/residents for safe-passage and perhaps even protection. And, ofc, being that much closer to Null also taking interest in crossing into Low for those self same Incursions.

You should tell Sansha Kuvakei he's doing it wrong

Invasions of Empires should always be directed towards their useless fringe provinces and not their industrial heartlands Roll

They are in lowsec so now you can go gank them at your leisure, happy hunting.

And seizing empty space would be a great victory becausewhy?

It would be very easy to gank a individual, simply put a point on them as the rest of the fleet engages gate and enters a site, leaving said target alone and helpless

Please don't talk about this risk/reward crap.
A couple things:

1. The current state of incursions is that one or two groups are intent on shutting down all but one of the high sec sites, or in many cases, ALL of the high sec sites, so there are NO high sec incursions. As I type this, 3 are up. One is a high sec island that is surrounded by about 8 jumps of low, and has been up for about 5 days.
The other two appeared less than 24 hours ago, and Incursion runners went almost 48 hours without ANY sites, because the two true high sec sites were popped prematurely by ISN and DIN about an hour apart on Wednesday.

So the ISK faucet you talk about is simply a lie.

2. The risk to run one of these is high. There are tons of gankers around, and people lose ships all the time. So don't start this crap about risk-free.

Further, given that missions just got hammered with the loot nerf, that means there will be even more pressure on these sites as more people turn to them to fund their gameplay.
If incursions get wrecked (actually when, as the cartels are working on that with the CSM), you can just watch a big drop in subs.

I love* how Salvos goes back and edits his own posts in an attempt to undermine flaws others point out in this position that he can't actually counter

I have not.

I sometimes add afterthoughts, but I never remove or fundamentally change anything that is already there.

And I don't appreciate you making this false accusation either.
