Fighter Drone improvements (?)

I'm curious: has anyone done some spreadsheet magic to look and see how the new Drone changes will affect fighter drones specifically. I know that they get mixed reviews about usability in small gangs.

Will the fact that skills (and mods?) now affect Fighters make them better at applying damage to smaller targets? If so, how much? Is it worth it to assign fighters to a tackler at a gate camp? Just curious as I've now gotten myself into a Carrier and am looking forward to actually using it!

From what I read, you will get a -marginal- boost to their DPS with maxed skills only

According to the Dev blog and associated numbers, base fighter damage will remain unchanged. The problem with fighters, however, was never base damage but damage application. Expanding the applicability of 'universal' drone skills such as Drone Navigation, and Drone Sharpshooting as well as drone enhancement mods will turn fighters into a powerful weapon system.

A Combat fit Thanny should be able to put out more than 2000dps with fighters traveling at 3.5k m/s and with the tracking to hit cruisers and above. Add to this a spider tank with 1.7 mil EHP and you easily turn the tide in 10-20 man fights. If the changes put forth in the dev blog are released, carriers, especially the Thanatos, will provide an excellent small gang escalation option, as well as an additional way for capitals to 'punch down.'

Is there a graph or spreadsheet anyone has made (or can make?) that would give a better idea of how these new fighters will be applying damage based on skills? Is there an option in EFT or PYFA or EveHQ? Just trying to wrap my head around if it will be worth it to produce my fighters or stick w/ (meh) Sentries

Will the addition of damage mods to fighter change up how fittings are done? will they make shield caps slightly (or greatly) more popular for anything that isn't a huge blob fest? I've been considering training for a chimera andf am just curious on opinions of more experienced drone users
