I for one protest this blatant demonstration of dev favoritism towards a leading member of the nullsec cabal!

Have I taught you folks nothing? Were you all asleep during my summit presentation on plausible deniability?

I was expecting to find more out about the CSM members and how much/if they'd care if there was a certain region of space (No matter if its serpentis, angel, blood raider, high, null, wh or low) with obvious content missing or some other glaring omission. Never expected to wind up with CCP seeing it. Horray, the CSM works.

Curious where you're going with the question, since there are a couple of possibilities, some more interesting than others. Haven't mined since literally 2006, however. Made my first 100m isk mining crokite with an osprey in syndicate and went "never again".

How would you go on about fixing that AND perhaps addressing the issue of introducing more small gang pvp?

Fix "that"? What, my complete lack of desire to ever mine again? Can't fix it, as a multi-trillionaire why the heck would I mine at all?

P

If I decide I can give you, of all people, a serious answer, I'll post it later today when I'm back from errands.

Can you please explain to me what a Permanent Attendee is and if that is something that you are looking forward to again?

Mynnna, I'm asking you this question specifically because not only you have a very firm grasp of the economy and a good understanding of what CCP can and cannot do, but because the term "incursion like event" for mining has been mentioned a few times in this thread.

I agree that having an incursion like mechanism for a new type of mining would be cool - obviously this can't be ring mining - they are always there. So... why not *comet* mining?

I'm not talking about short period regular comets (like say Haley's which would have been mined out long ago) but the long period (or knocked out of orbit in the Oort cloud) comet that has never been seen before, full of primordial solar system materials. There could be all sorts of valuables in there (ores, ices, moon go, gases, certain types of PI good, etc etc), creating a short "gold rush" . After a few days, the comet has been mined out, or crashed into the sun or flashed off or whatever.

Is this something CCP could implement? Can it be done without wrecking the economy?

(p.s. of course, someone thought of it first https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=331766&find=unread )

It'd be easy to get all egotistical about it but the truth is competition for the two permanent slots was pretty tight last year with a spread of just 350 votes (out of 10,350) between myself and Mangala, the third runner up. So, I do look forward to the strong possibility of it again, but I'm not taking it as a sure thing either.

Could they implement it? In theory I'm sure, I obviously have no idea from a technical perspective. And it's easy to imagine how a miner that can fly at 3k/s might be valuable there too (venture I'm lookin' at you). Rapid movement requirements & environmental effects would no doubt make the mining more interactive and interesting (whether it'd be "enough" more is another question). Throw all manner of stuff into there and you address some of the problem I'd presented earlier with the concept of ring mining, and so long as their frequency was reasonably balanced (and what actually was available thought out) I'm sure it could be done without adversely affecting the economy.

I posted my endorsements this evening.

http://interstellarprivateer.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/csm9-endorsements/

Mynnna is one of six candidates (along with Ali Aras, Corbexx, James Arget, Mike Azariah, and Sugar Kyle) to get a First Tier endorsement from me. Here's what I said about him:

Rhavas wrote:
Mynnna: Mynnna may be the smartest person on CSM 8. The Goons may have their quirks, but they didn’t get where they are by being idiots. Mynnna can spot the proverbial butterfly and predict with seemingly uncanny accuracy exactly how the playerbase will manipulate changes into economic chaos – because he knows what he would do. His insight is invaluable to the CSM and he deserves to be in any open slot you might have even if you’re not part of the CFC.

Thanks, Mynnna, and good luck on your upcoming term.

What do you think about the idea of simply eliminating Sov as a mechanic? If you're there and you can keep others out, you own it. If you can't keep others out, you don't own it.

Surely there must be a way.

This question is functionally equivalent to "Why don't we just turn hi-sec into 0.0?"

Really the question is more like "Why don't we just make all of 0.0 into NPC nullsec", to which the answer is "because NPC nullsec has basically zero of the reasons to want to live there fulltime that sov null has, seeing as almost all the reasons to want to live in and groom a system are tied to sov."

What exactly would be the goal you'd hope to accomplish by just nuking the sov system entirely?

I find it very irregular to have dev responses to CSM campaigns. CCP staff should not have any influence at all on CSM campaigns or elections. That includes increasing a certain candidates visibility and therefore his or her chances of getting elected. It stinks of favoritism.
