Manticore SB Tackle and Gank Help!

So i am fitting a basic Low-Sec tackle and gank Manticore SB. I am using Rockets, Combat Scanner Probes, Cov-Ops Cloak, 2 Balistic Control Systems, 2 Scrams and 2 Webs.

My tactic i am going to be doing is to find a target i can kill then move to 3-4k Range, Target, Fire, Tackle, Kiil...!

Now i have a few questions.

1st. Do i need 2 Scrams and 2 Webs if i am hitting Frigs, Explorers and Miners?

2nd. Should i use a Microwarp Drive? If i choose my targets correctly they should never pull away and should die before they can retaliate or get out of my range.

3rd. Any Advice for ganking in SB? Areas to do it in? Different Fittings, Tactics etc...?

Thank you!

You will find the task will be much easier doing it in an Interdictor, such as the Heretic or Sabre then what it is in a Stealthbomber. Especially if you are going to fit rockets to an SB.

Dictor doesn't warp cloaked giving a target tons of time to warp away if he's watching d scan.

Dual scram is helpful. I prefer AB to MWD, you don't really need dual webs unless you have the spare fitting.

Rockets are not the answer. You want gank, there's no reason to need the strength or rockets (ie hitting from the edge if scram range). Rethink your weapon selection

I got 2 advices..

1: do not use a sb for that sort of stuff (engage other frigs)

2: if you MUST , fit some damn tank otherwise you'd just get 1-2 shotted , die and basicly fail "za tackle"

Just use an astero, stratios or force recons like the pilgrim

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

Depends on what you want to kill.

A solo SB is pretty horrible at killing anything.

It's only used for the surprise effect against targets that have no defence, i.e. exploration frigs, mining barges, industrials. You sometimes can get a kill against a ratting battleship, if you can get rid of its drones. Pretty much anything else will easily kill you. And even then, be careful. A bait-fit exploration frig will still win against your SB. Even a miner might kill you with his drones before you can kill him.

As Starbucks said: a Force Recon or SoE ship is much better than a SB. The only reason to use a SB is if the target is agile enough to get away within the 5 second targeting delay,

Finally, if you are hunting exploration frigates, do not "move to 3-4k". Instead, decloak by bumping them to mess up any escape attempt even more.

This will work perfectly for what you have in mind. It is great fun and I have done it successfully in a nemisis.

I would drop the second web for an ab though.

Just be wary of anything that will fight back. The astero will murder you. A venture is no problem but a mining barge you will have to kill drones first and quickly. If you get in scram range of a torp fit bomber though, you will have a nice surprise for them.

A good tactic is to find an active system, and scan it out looking for data, relic, and gas sites. Then just sit in the site waiting for an explorer. Wait until they are playing the mini game but before they complete it. Also gas clouds are big be careful not to be decloaked by the cloud.

It is a nice patient hunt. However be prepared to lose a few to backup or someone trying to gank the ganker.

I do this a lot. I will say this for a guy who is experienced in solo killing in a SB. Nemesis seems to work the best and i have tried them all. The only real targets that i have been good at catching are Smart Bomber BS and Tier 3 BC's. My fit is just keep the Torps, AB scram target painter med shield micro aux and ballistic control unit. I orbit at 5000m then uncloak on the target and scram it. This works really well for tier 3 BC's. If you have a fleet backing you up then this method works on anything.

Smart bombers are harder because of smart bombs. How to catch those is all about timing. First you get 3 scrams with the ab and have torps. Have your keep at range button set to 6500-7000m. You should check the pilots killboard to make sure he does not have faction smart bombs. What you do is warp in to the known gate that the Smart bombers is camping. Keep at range of 7000m. Now comes the timing. Wait for a target to come in and let him smart bomb it. This will get gate guns going. As soon as you see the smart bombs and they criminal tag goes up, uncloak and put 3 scrams on him and fire. The gate guns will help you take the target down. Remember to us the Keep at range rather then orbit on this one that really helps.

Now as you see by the dates you do not use this that often but i have a lot more Tier 3 kills that i just did not post. Smartbombers are the most fun to kill in this method. They think they are hilarious until they get caught then watch the rage

SB fails hard as a solo rocket boat, but if you were to give up guns to cram as much tank on as possible and just use it to get surprise tackle and survive until backup lands then you could probably kill some pimp ships

A ship like that works wonders, but only on explorers. Miners are likely to have drones (unless you see mining / salvaging drones out don't even try). Combat frigs are your natural enemy. Don't even try.

Scan out a data or relic site and cloak up on top of it. Once an explorer lands track him throughout the site, if he doesn't cherrypick he'll start running the site. I generally grab these guys on the last can. Uncloak > Lock > 2x Scram > DPS. Prop mods are simply to stay in range if the target proves to be tanked, I don't use a web on my explorer gank fit.

Rockets? I prefer autocannons, but go with the small weapon system that you have good skills for. It doesn't matter that much in my experience, just go for short range high DPS.

Obviously he doesn't want to take any real risk to pump up his gank board. Otherwise, he'd use a proper visually open ship like a sabre or inty that can get the job done at some risk.
