You might want to look in to using a random name generator. They can be pretty random, but It'll give you ideas if nothing else. Here is a really crappy name generator and here is a link to some good advice what a good company name should take in to account. Amusingly enough any name you get from the first link propably fails on almost all accounts :P. There are better name generators available, but I would suggest looking what your competitors have for names, so you understand the environment and context you're about to become a part of and do better.

Hope some of this helps out a little.

Haha, this is a joke right, you're starting a design company, a creative enterprise, but can't come up with a name? That's pretty funny. :)

Difficult.

Creative agencies typically fall into a few brackets for the name of the company.

1) Something that relates to the industry they are aligned to:

RockArt

2) Something clever:

Enchorus (combining the 'encore' of a show and 'chorus' meaning there is more than one designer)

3) Something abstract:

Dotted Line

4) Something cutesy:

Stage-Up (probably with an arrow pointing up)

5) Something Geographical:

[your town name] Designers

6) Something mono-syllabic:

Cut (cut a deal, cut a record, cut an album)

7) Something opposing:

High-Low, Big-Small, Wide-Thin

8) Something powerful:

Tornado, Storm, Lightning, Flood, Mach-3, Richter, Boom, Chilli, beyond-12.

Just some ideas - my brother went through the same thing earlier this year and finally settled on something cutsey, because he felt that creative companies need fun names, not serious names.

Well not really, I thought it would be interesting to get people involved. Obviously in your case i was wrong Big smile
Yes we can come up with allsorts of names be ourselves, the usual lets try be cool and cute as mentioned above, like alot of design agencies do. You dont want to be too cool where its just totally irrelevant.
Its a bit of fun as well m8, you know to get people involved, so dont take it too seriously also , however there maybe some good ideas :)

Generally :

- keep it under 2-3 syllables, short and simple
- easily pronounceable
- makes sense and easily remembered (not something exotic/word acronym that people have difficulty referencing on top of their heads)
- hopefully something that can't easily be turned into a deragotary word (with a minor wordplay)

It has been pointed out to me that artsy kids usually dress in black. With all the colors available... they dress in black.

Something like "Guy and Sons", people like the and Sons bit. And add 1873 on the end to make it look more established.

As you progress through your name search, I would suggest you check GoDaddy or other domain registrar to check is the name or abbreviation has already been registered.

Nothing worse than picking a name and finding out after you've gotten the relevant business licenses that the name has already been taken as a url, and having to come up with some bastardized substitute.
