Eve is known for controversial acts, intense game play, rules and regulation line tip-toeing ever. Especially when it comes to the meta-game. Eve is one of the most meta-gamed games there are. To the point that meta-gaming is serious bizness, as are the spaceships aspect of it. And podcasting/live broadcasting falls in to that part of the game.

Mike comes on Podside and has regularly as long as I've been associated in any way with the group of folks who run the show. Sure we get crazy. Sure we love to drink and go balls out. Just the same in drunken fleet roams, soundcloud recordings of rage filled PL dudes like Grath, and the like that we've all heard.

Mike continues to be a reasoning voice of calm among all the calamity. He does not waiver. He does not shy away. He does not throw his friends or associates under the bus. Because Mike knows the true people behind the drunken rants that occur on occasion. No matter where or when they may happen. That is what makes Mike such a valuable candidate for CSM 9.
Not only his proven track record of hard work and fairness while on CSM 8 but also his hard work and fairness while out there partaking in the meta game that is a huge part of Eve and how it unfolds and operates on a daily basis.

Mike deserves a fair shot for a second term. And I for one will be voting for Mike with all accounts I have. It's hard not to like Mike. A vote for this guy is not a wasted vote. I promise you that.

Best of luck Mike.

I've been slacking on my forum posting, and part of that means I'd missed posting in Mike's thread for far too long. Mike was a wonderful member of CSM8; he provided a valuable perspective and represented high sec well, while also listening to and working with other members in other areas of the game and overall maintaining a very balanced and nuanced view of EVE Online. Throughout all that, he also kept up chatting with the community on Podside and EVE Radio, and steadfastly slogged through every godawful threadnaught where other CSMs might falter. I'll have him on my ballot again this year, and so should you.

I am well known for having issues with proposals that boil down to being binary solutions. Yes/no questions seldom result in consensus or explore and issue in anything more than just a cursory.

Yes/no is good for the tl:dr crowd but when you are talking about the bigger picture it becomes 'yes but' or 'no unless'

If you want my opinion then I would recommend either of the past 2 Podside recordings http://s8.multiplexgaming.com/downloads/PodsideEp191.mp3 http://s8.multiplexgaming.com/downloads/PodsideEp192.mp3 OR the DJ Wiggles rewind from this past Sunday.

I was active in the major thread-naught and the followup one after the falcon announcement.

But I won't belittle the process or my answer with one word. It negates the idea that Ideas are complex and need discussion. That people need to talk and be listened to in return. Very little we have dealt with in the past year was yes/no

and that is the right way to do things.

Honestly, I was more surprised with Trebor's opinion of the question. He just happened to say it in your thread. I appreciate you taking the time to answer it with your thoughts. Thanks, Mike.

Hello.

Currently the Serpentis are the only pirate faction in the game that don't have a rated 6/10 and 9/10 DED complex available to be run. These sites have been on the "coming soon" list for quite a few years, but no further news or information has been released. Would you be willing to request that CCP introduce these sites to the game so that areas like syndicate that rely on running sites as the main form of income can continue to grow and prosper?

Any thing that you feel that you have help change or highly influence being on the CSM over the past year that was in high demand for the player bases or could have effected?

If you are asking me in the singular sense, the only thing I can point to is the change upcoming to mining drones . . . not exactly what you would call 'in demand' by the player base.

But if your you is collective as in CSM8 then there are many many more things that were done. CSM is a team effort, not a set of 14 individuals pushing through their own selfserving narrow agendas. I was the voice for PvE and the person who spoke up for the 'unconnected player'. I think the scariest moment for me was in the Summer sumit when we began the PvE conversation and the entire room paused and looked to me if a general question was asked.

Team? We did great

Me? I represented.

Tangible show and tell items with my name on the bottom of them? Nope.

But I did what I set out to do and want to continue that with a new team. WE will do great things, if you elect a good team in the upcoming weeks.

with pve as your main focus do you have any aspects of possibly looking at changing or updating any of the industry aspects of the game to make things more interesting than they are currently?

also in addition if you could change missions, what would you personally love to see changed about them especially after the nerfing they did to level 4's making them a lot easier compared to how they used to be?

More interesting industry. Yes, I would love that. NOT more clicking, not more variety that disguises itself as improvement but streamlining of the donkey work. Interesting as in decisions that can be made and are not made for you, tactical play for the industrialist.

Missions. Let me admit from the outset that I love the eve-survival site and think that it has been a boon and a curse to missioneers, over the years. It let us collect the missions and saved many a ship as it worked out the triggers. But then it made each mission a recipe and took any exploration, any excitement from the process. I want a measure of uncertainty.

To get that I alternate fits and ships running missions. Yes I am usually woefully suboptimal for the job and my isk/tick is laughable but I am still missioning after all these years. I want missions that 'see your ship' and adjust for that ship. I want some dynamic missions that include ai that will warp away if you don't have a point on them.

well . . you did ask

Good to see you are running for CSM again Mike.

I have a couple of questions:

1. What is the one thing you did during CSM 8 that you are most proud of?

2. What is your opinion on live events and eve rp (needed/not needed; important or not etc.) and do you talk about this things to CCP? (I'm asking this because it seems like CCP completely forgot about this aspect of eve after last live event and ran away from community as far as they could.)

Thanks

As to most proud. Hmmm, no. I did my job as part of a team. WE, CSM8 did a great job of opening doors and communicating with MORE of CSM and with MORE of the player base than any other CSM to date. I am proud to be part of that team, not of some singular thing I did.

Live events? Man I could talk your ear off about that. I want more of them. I wan the Lore to mean something and to grow, steadily. I want the Live events to cover other time zones even if CCP has to dragoon another NA office to do them. Or have the GM's cross trained. (They are always there) Yes, the last live event was less than optimal (political speak for a complete fiasco)

If CCP learns from their mistakes then this was a grad class and will result in a Masters degree.

But that shouldn't stop them from trying. Look back to the summer minutes and you will see that CSM8 encouraged them to have far more of them on almost a regular basis. I am very much in favour of that.

I posted my endorsements this evening.

http://interstellarprivateer.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/csm9-endorsements/

Mike is one of six candidates (along with Ali Aras, Corbexx, James Arget, Mynnna and Sugar Kyle) to get a First Tier endorsement from me. Here's what I said about him:

Rhavas wrote:
Mike Azariah: Mike was a long shot last year, a surprise victor. He has showed his mettle time and again on this year’s CSM. He also represents a number of chronically under-represented groups in EVE, including missioners, incursion-runners, roleplayers and other highsec carebeary types. He has been a strong, intelligent and forceful advocate for their point of view and deserves to be there to do it again.

Good luck Mike!
