We're recording the next High Drag Podcast tonight, and the theme will be Heroes and Villains of Eve Online. I'm looking for some feedback on who your heroes and villains are within the game.

Keep in mind, that your heros and villains do not have to fit into the traditional notion of right and wrong, good and evil. Just please give an explanation for your picks.

Cheers.

We're capsuleers, terms like hero and villain are like clothing to be changed for the occasion.

I agree. I've been mulling this over for a bit; I'm having a hard time coming up with a pick for either Hero or Villain.

Hero: Anyone who gets a new player to stay in game.
Villain: Anyone who pushes a new player away from the game?

Like I said, harder to answer...

A hero is just someone you look up to for inspiration. Nothing to do with player retention.

I guess I'll pick the easy ones according to popular public opinion.

Heros : Everyone that tries to keep highsec dangerous, they make life interesting for people who are either lazy, stupid, incompetent or risk averse; and any combination thereof.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

This thread makes me miss that old ornery Ginger Magician..

I wonder if he ever unloaded all his Tractor Beam BPOs?

Heros: my CEO and some corpmates

Villains: everyone else... especially my CEO and ALL of my corpmates.

It just depends on my mood and perspective at the time.

Be very, very careful what you say. Someone may become 'unhinged' or 'emotionally distressed' to the point that it may be considered 'cyber bullying' or 'deformation' if you classify them as a hero or villain.

Heros: Psychotic Monk; Cannibal Kane;
Villains: I don't actually know any. First I thought of mentioning Dinsdale, but that'd be mean.

I've always thought that there really are no "good guys" or "bad guys" in Eve. You (hopefully, and if you're lucky) find a group of people you like and get along with, and then it's you and yours vs. everyone else.

First part never worked for me, while the latter part pretty much always applied. :(

Villains: Everybody except me.

"Hero" and "villain" are crutches used by lazy writers.

List of heroes.

List of villains.

Thanks for the definition, but I disagree. A common quality among capsuleers who inspire (in my opinion) center around the notion of new player retention. Whether that is fleeting up members from the Scope, and taking them out to lowsec... or teaching a slingshot mechanic.
