Fuel Blocks and Perfect ME

Hi,

I was wondering if I could get some help. I am trying to calculate what is the perfect ME for (in this case) a Caldari Fuel Block, but I *think* I am doing something wrong.

I am using this formula from a wiki -> Material Needed = Base Material + (Base Waste)/(1 + ME)

Is the materials needed, the highest amount of any of the mats needed, so in my case it would be 420 of Nitrogen isotopes ? and for Base Waste it is 5%?.. just want to make sure I am on correct track, I have been getting strange values and I am not great at math. I don't want to have anyone do it for me, just need to know if those are at least correct values.

Thanks much . (sorry if this has been answered, didn't see it when I searched)

perfect at 40, and only takes a week? good deal Smile

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Without any skill in Metallurgy, it will take 4d 4h at a POS lab. With level V in Metallurgy, it will take 3d 3h at a POS lab to get to ME40.

Notes:

For a 5% waste BPO, take the in-game number of the highest quantity item affected by waste and divide by 11.5 to get perfect ME.

For a 10% waste BPO, divide by 4.5.

So for the fuel block BPOs, with isotopes at 420 units (5% waste), 420/11.5 = 40.

So waste is always off highest material is it? It does not work concurrently?

I have tin foil hat trained to 5.

Yeah, I just really quickly looked at the "perfect ME time" note on the chruker site ... which I believe uses NPC time... since it was noting 5 days and change.

edit --
it's not that waste is off the highest item, it's that the maths to calculate the "perfect ME" only work with using the highest base amount item, since the other stuff will have zero waste long before whatever you need the most of.

Lower quantity materials go to perfect ME sooner.

I suggest playing around with various BPOs like Fusion XL or Antimatter Charge XL. The following calculator will let you see the effect of various ME levels and how they impact the amount of waste.
