Insurance in eve is scam tutorial to teach people how to steal money from people who don't read and can't do math.

Areas that statistically have more road accidents and vehicle-related crime affect how much car insurance you have to pay (where I live anyway). Imagine having to pay more for insurance in systems that have high levels of ship and pod kills.

Not very. I have a 7:1 Kill/Loss Ratio.
Even better if you don't count my pod losses and notice that I've never killed a pod, myself.

Well if you want to carry it further what if insurance subrogated for kills. By this I mean, in real life when an insurer pays you for a loss it then gets the right to pursue the wrongdoer for the loss. How ****** would gankers and highsec wardeccers be?

They don't pay insurance for suicide ganks, so it would have almost no effect on me.

Edit: Although it would make my ganking slightly more damaging, so thats a plus.

So all of your kills are solo kills? Because all of your losses are solo losses.

Ok sir, we added that MWD to your premium. That adds an extra 50,000 isk per month. Evil

On the question:
Insurance has and always will be a scam, ripping you off your hard earned money.

Two possibilities exists: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

I never insure my ships... Insurance would cost me about 5 bil per month, and I rarely lose 1/10 of that per month. So wouldnt change a thing for me!

Try telling that to someone who flies T1 ships regularly in combat, especially the larger ones.

I understand what you're saying though. I do enjoy flying T2 and T3 ships as well, and so I'm aware you can't get decent insurance from them.

Surely with a SRP, running an insurance scam is a way to turn a personal profit, no?

And a wonderful incentive for newer or more gun shy players to get off their butts and PvP.
