Suggestion: Mining ship bigger than Exhumer

Hey all,

This will put some rage critiques on flames and put some more haters to pour hate into this tread but, Hey! welcome to Eve Online as they say!

I was looking at my toon (not this one abviously lol, gotta love alts) and It can fly an Orca and Exhumer so basicly it's a miner.

I thought, why not have a ship that could be as big as an Orca and mine also. Like a big fat mining ship with exceptional capacity for it that would have been developped to put some more production capacity on the field for Solo Miner.

Some will say it's the worst idea ever. Meh, like I cared about those anyway. Some will say good and critical stuff about capacity, restriction and training. I will welcome those to put a possible suggestion to CCP (who could weigh in on this idea with their economist for mineral price and general economic impact)

So I didn't had any specific capacity in mind, but let's wing a possible fit of what a ship like this could look like:

Skill requiement (industrial command ship 4 and all relevent skills toward this skill)

High: 4
Mid: 5
Low: 4

Rig 3

Calibration 300

Role bonus:
Can equip Strip miner
100% bonus range to survey scanner
+1 warp core strengh (total strenght 2)

Industrial command ship skill bonus per level:
5% Ore cargo hold capacity
4% shield resistance to all damage

PG: 1000Mw
CPU 1000Tf
Cargo Hold: 20 000 m3
Ore Cargo Hold 50 000 m3
Drone Bay: 50m3
Drone Bandwith: 50

So it's what I have in mind so far. It can use balancing but. I guess it's up to CCP to take all consideration towars this and the basic idea toward it.

If this ship were created, what would be the point of flying any of the barges (T1 or T2)? It mines more than the Hulk, holds more than the Mack and has more HP than the Skiff (assuming Orca-like HP with all those mids with that resist bonus)...

CCP have previously stated that no mining ship will ever mine more than the Hulk which blocks this immediately but even if this restriction had never been positted there would still be so many arguments against this ship that it can never get beyond this thread.

But's let's see if we can find a niche for it...
It's a capital scale ship so making it navigate by cyno and therefore low-sec only is a start, but all that does is religate the barges to highsec.
We have enough PG there to fit an MWD, so the ship is effectively more agile than any of the barges due to the way aligning works under MWD - so we'd need to restrict that perhaps a role "bonus" which drastically increases the fitting cost of prop modules; so that no viable prop mod can be fitted even with every low and rig slot dedicated to PG...

It's never going to be fitted with enough to be worth the time it will take to kill it... The only effect it has is to reduce the value of a miner's time.

So, no. There it neither a justification for such a ship, nor a need in fact. No.

Usually there is a call for them to have covop cloak as well. So there is at least some improvement overall in the game breaking ship design school.

I'd add another role bonus:
can target rocks and use strip miners under covops cloak

It should also be able to use the AFKAH.

Afk Armor Hardener

The Away From Keyboard Armor Hardener possesses an advanced nano membrane that reacts to layer armor damage by shifting between resistances over afk time. This makes it able to instantly align its defenses against whichever incoming damage types are prevalent.

The module spreads 200% resistance over four damage types, starting at 50% each and aligning instantly when the ship is attacked.

Only one of this module can be fitted at a time. Prototype Carebear Module.

1000 cpu? 300 calibration? Any rationale for such odd numbers.

Also, there is a suggestions forum.

I hear that if you stick mining lasers on a Revelation you get a really big mining ship. Even bigger than an Exhumer.

Never happen. Oh, and wrong forum.

I'd like to add a couple items myself:
1) Cannot fit any turrets, launchers, drones, EWAR, smarttbombs, cloaks, or anything that can be considered offensive in any way, shape or form.
2) Built-in Ore Scanner
3) No mid slots
4) Once it starts its mining operation it basically falls into a kind of "non-maneuverable" status, where it takes a 10 minute warm-up to get going again
5) No shields. It's big, it's massive, and hull should be plenty.
6) Can mine only while at zero (0) speed.
7) 0% resists to EM in Armor (just like most ship's EM shield resist)

how does this balance against the current exhumers?

April Fools Day was yesterday Blink

Personally, instead of a new mining vessel, I would rather see the Rorqual's abilities expanded and a new mobile unit capable of mining the equivalent of two unbonused Miner II lasers and a hold similar to the MTU . Can be attacked freely as the MTU can be.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

nikk narrel had an idea with something like that...after spending ages looking for it, i see u already found it.
