So I made a ship comparison spreadsheet

Seems like every couple of years someone puts together and publishes a spreadsheet for comparing ship stats. My google-fu was not strong enough to find an up to date one, so I made my own. So might as well share it.

The goal here is to have all the stats of a ship fit on the screen (well, MY screen) at once, so I have selected only the stats I find most important. And by important I mean important to pve/pvp prowess.

I entered the data by hand (cuz I'm dumb) so there are probably some errors in the numbers.

Made with LibreOffice because that's what I had installed. I've no idea if it'll show up correctly in Excel

The spreadsheet includes all ships, except the following categories (some of which I might add later)
All industrials and shuttles - no pve/pvp prowess to speak of
All capital ships - simple laziness
T3 cruisers - the modular design is difficult to represent
Ships not found in ISIS (special edition ships, super rare ships) - laziness again

So try my thingy out and feel free to point out mistakes / give feedback / send ISK / shout insults.

I appreciate the work and effort gone into this and it is impressive, however I am failing to see why exactly is it needed? No offence by the way :)

well, assuming the numbers are correct, it is a good quick reference. no more googling and browsing outdated wikis because you forgot how many low slots a rupture has.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Could you possible move a copy of this to Microsoft's Office-Online? Allows people to view and play with it in the browser very easily and you can update easily to :) - anyone with an outlook.com account can do it with their One-Drive

p.s. Excellent post - thanks for the work!

Thanks, Aegam!
I appreciate all the hard work that went into creating that! Am sure I'll get some great mileage out of it!

Not sure why Im even bothering posting, but yeah. Count me in this same boat.

For everything else there is EFT.

Splendid work.

It's nothing comparable to EFT : it's another approach entirely. Very useful IMHO.

Suggestions, if I may :

  • (more) explicit names for ships characteristics (hey, it's also for noobs, isn't it? ;) )
  • put Shield and Armor values along their respectives resistances
  • better sorting of bonuses : one column for type (drone, LET, SHT, ...) and then one column per attribute (tracking, damage...). As multiple bonuses can occur, these should be the last columns of the table.

Hi, thanks for the comments everyone. Here's some responses.

I don't have an account and am not really interested in setting one up. But if anyone wants to set up the sheet there, feel free to do so. (and post a link here)

Eh, the heavy abbreviation use is mostly to save space. As I said in the op, i wanted to have all the stats of a ship visible at once.
Also, the "help" sheet has explanations of all the abbreviations. (unless I missed some, which I probably did)

This sure would make looking up ships based on specific bonuses a lot easier. Again, the reason I didn't do this is to conserve space. Many of the bonuses end up not fitting in the cell even currently. Originally I had the the bonuses column be the last column, but since they are pretty much the most important thing to know about the ship, I decided to move it to be one of the first instead. Of course, everyone is free to move the columns around in their local copy to suit their tastes :)

This makes sense I suppose. When I started putting this together I was under the impression that only a few ships had notable bonuses to their resistances, so I didn't think they were as interesting as the raw hp amounts. Turns out pretty much ALL T2 ships have major buffs to the resists though. Which kind of brings me to why I went looking for a spreasheet like this in the first place.

I started playing eve a couple of years ago and grinded lvl4 missions in cookie-cutter raven as the stereotypical care bear for a few months. Then it got boring and I stopped playing. A few weeks ago I decided to resub and try some pvp, but I never had much of an idea of what all the ships could do, and most of what I did know I had forgotten. Now the popular opinion is probably that at that point I should just start shooting at random things in frigates until I start winning, but I like to have at least some idea of what the different ships are capable of. So that's pretty much why I started working on the spreadsheet. I find it gives a much better overview of what a class of ships can do compared to just randomly looking up ships in eft. Such as "holy **** HACs and AFs have imba resistances!".

As a bonus section, here are some random facts I found out while typing up the spredsheeet.

  • T2 logis have destroyer-size signatures
  • With T1 ships every race has a 10% resistance bonus to one type of damage, but only to armor. T2 ships of that race generally have a substantial bonus to that damage type on both armor and shield, and a smaller bonus to one other type (always the same two types for the same race)
  • Pirate and racial navy ships only have the lame 10% bonus though
  • Only four ships below Battleship-size can field a full set of heavy drones: Vexor navy issue, Gila, Ishtar and Eos
  • Ewar-oriented ships tend to have much better targeting ranges than other ships

As for making updates to the spreadsheet, I think I got enough data entry practice to last a couple of months at least. So don't expect very frequent updates :)
