To reply more to the OP.

If you think you have anonymity now on the internet, you are seriously deluded.

No i am not talking NSA or anything like that. I am talking about simple things.. like are you logged into facebook right now? Yahoo? Google?

The internet has never been particularly anonymous. That is more of a Hollywood movie thing.

AKA the scientist.

Death and Glory!

Well fun is also good.

The first thing that would change is that the Russians would own all of nullsec within a week.

Hell yeah, miners are nothing but talk IN GAME, let alone they'/d actually do something IRL. Lol

But all kidding aside, I'd stop playing the game.

They would would go afk in their car while hitting you. After which they would say a script in their car made it hit youBlink

But yeah, I agree with you. I would quit too. Too many sick people out there to bother risking your life for a game. Just like some drawings of people who might lived some 1000 years ago can put your life in danger..... Sigh!

Id immeadiately find all the Finnish corps and (after learning as much Finnish as I could) pledge allegience in exchange for a pop at a Muscovite

No, it's legitimate.

I unsubbed from Facebook about 3 years ago. The experience was horrific.

And the idiocy was caused by people I had known since the age of 13. My very high school graduating class folks, if you can believe that.

They were using FB to organize our reunion (1983), and about half of them (this is Texas) got involved in the stupid Tea Party Nonsense.

My good lord....the hatred and scumbaggery these people revealed. And they would just not stop with the incessant propaganda.

People will always distort Internet groups of any kind towards their own agenda.

I can never ever be in a room with those people again.

Internet anonymity or non-anonymity.....it all turns out exactly the same.

I think you should have listened to some of those people. Tragic that you didn't, they might have been able to help you with your problem.

How much of a difference would it make in the Eve universe knowing (PlayerX) is really John Doe? How many players would continue to actually play? Would it mean the death of Eve as we know it or merely an evolution to a nicer universe?

RAMPANT identity theft and holy **** would this game die so fast

LOL, i really want someone to steal my identity. And when he drawn in bill collector calls , he'll be sorry! Note to self: real life creditors do not accept PLEX for some reason.

I'm like that Chris Rock joke: "Man, I'm so poor, if a dude tries to rob me, he'll just be practicing" lol.

I think this game could achieve it's true potential if everyone had 1 account that was tied to a passport (not necessarily publicly viewable, but kept on record by CCP), and each character was visibly linked to the other characters on the account.

The spy game has ruined the potential of EVE to be more like the battle room of Ender's Game. It would be nice to be able to focus on fleets, fights, and the like without all the other baggage EVE brings with it.

EVE isn't a battle arena, it is (among other things) an all encompassing conflict simulator. Spying is a part of conflict and without it (and the danger of it) EVE would be much diminished.

Is it seriously not possible to have any discussions about EVE that don't immediately pivot into "This is what EVE is, deal with it?" Can you not cast off your role as protector of the status quo for 5 minutes to just shoot the **** about what if's and whimsical thoughts?

EvE would be destroyed as we know it.

Is that an acceptable way to express an opinion for you?

In fairness to Jenn, from what you're describing, you are probably playing the wrong game.

Is it not possible to have a discussion that doesn't devolve into this kind of silliness? Just put some ideas out there and play with the ideas. There's no need to get dogmatic over every little thing.

BTW, destroying EVE as we know it is a good thing. If you don't agree with that statement, you'll never post a "fix this," "change that," or "add something" thread and you'll never complain about anything CCP does. If you loved EVE exactly as it is, you wouldn't want to change it for any reason, would you? Roll

Destroying the fundamental nature of the game as opposed to fixing things that already exist in the game as it is.

Yeah, sorry, no equivalency there, if you ask me.

I would think MOST players would continue to do excatly what they do now.

I also think there would be a few who would change their playing stlye out of the fear of the potential of getting their real life a** kicked for being an ingame sociopath.

Then there would be the very minor percentage who would be worse ingame, wanting to to see their RL effects on their ingame targets. These are the RL sociopaths.

I thought the whole "removal of internet anonymity" was the motivation behind Blizzard's RealID. We see how well that worked.

As for the OP, I expect we'd see a lot more reports to RL authorities regarding real life threats made from in-game, if there were an easy way to locate and report accurate information to the relevant authorities.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide
