Name change when purchase character

So the name change is quite a controversial idea, but it would be nice if it were offered when purchasing a character from the bazzar. When you buy a used sullied character you can never be sure what nastiness it has done in the past. The corp history and security status are only half the story.

It would be nice if the buyer of any character had the option to pay X amount of plex - 1 or 2 - to rename his new sidekick and addition to his account.

Dont just [u]think[/u] outside the box, [u]Live[/u] outside of it...

ah, no, not a good idea really - that way you could use an alt to buy a character and rename it to hide traces of its inglorious past.

That's really your issue, not CCP's.

And all this does is provide a way for Corp thieves to whitewash themselves, and start new without having to train.
But of course you didn't think about the possible misuse of such a deal, you were too busy thinking about easy mode...Roll

You could, but if the option cost 2 plex it would deter most people. If its really a worry there could be a "formerly known as" implemented in the bio/character information window

So you attach the name, you accomplish nothing, if anything you make the character more suspicious, not less....Did you think any of this out?

And yes, I'm sure thieves and scammers are worried about spending theft isk on plex....Roll

So don't buy one.

You could do as many of us have over the years and -gasp- train your own. I say this as a guy who makes a living as a character trader. No name changes.

easier solution: don't buy a character if you don't like the name

npc alts have no opinions worth consideration

I scan the character bazaar every day looking for a decent name, plenty of characters matching what I want, but the names are terrible, I like this idea, and ya know, who scams with a 30 million sp character? No body.

If you want name control rights, you need to roll a new character and train it.

If you want to purchase a ready made character, you give up rights to name control.

Names have consequences, buying ready made toons has consequences.

Eve has consequences.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

It's not as simple as changing the name. You'd need to whitewash the employment history as well.

It would only deter those who cannot afford two PLEX.

But in any case, NO.

If you are concerned about the history of a character, buy a different one.

Thinking about this more, you'd need to remove all notes other players have about this player. You'd need to change standings. You'd need to wipeout combat logs.

And that's probably just the beginning.

A huge mess, so that people can hide their dirty past.

LoL, no anger. Why should I be angry?

Couldn't read that far, sorry.

Good thing that ailment was cleared up, now what about just being happy you can purchase sp?
